4.2 Setting Your Personalized Combination
It is highly recommended to change the default combination (0-0-0-0) to a personalized code that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.
- Open the Lock Box: Enter the current combination (initially 0-0-0-0) and open the lock box as described in Section 4.1.
- Locate the Reset Lever: Inside the key compartment, locate the reset lever or button. This is typically a small switch or pin.
- Move the Reset Lever: With the lock box open, push the reset lever from position A to position B (or rotate the pin 90 degrees clockwise, depending on the model). Refer to the internal mechanism for specific instructions if different.
- Set New Combination: While the reset lever is in the reset position, rotate the dials to your desired new 4-digit combination. Ensure the numbers are clearly aligned.
- Return Reset Lever: Move the reset lever back to its original position (position A or rotate the pin 90 degrees counter-clockwise).
- Test New Combination: Close the lock box, scramble the dials, and then enter your new combination to verify it opens correctly. Do not lock the shackle until you have successfully tested the new code.
Important: Remember your new combination. There is no master key or override function if the combination is forgotten.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your TruePower 4-Digit Lock Box.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the lock box with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Lubrication: For outdoor use, consider applying a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the shackle mechanism and combination dials annually to ensure smooth operation and prevent corrosion.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the lock box for any signs of wear, damage, or tampering. Ensure the shackle closes securely.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Lock Box Will Not Open
- Incorrect Combination: Double-check that you are entering the correct 4-digit combination. Ensure each number is precisely aligned in the center of the display window.
- Dials Not Aligned: Sometimes the dials may not be perfectly aligned after scrambling. Gently rotate each dial back and forth to ensure it settles into its correct position for the code.
- Shackle Release Button: Ensure the shackle release button is fully depressed when attempting to open the shackle.
6.2 Difficulty Changing Combination
- Lock Box Not Open: The lock box must be open with the current combination entered to access the reset mechanism.
- Reset Lever Position: Ensure the reset lever is fully moved to the reset position before setting the new code, and fully returned to the original position afterward.
- Dials Scrambled Too Soon: Do not scramble the dials until the reset lever is returned to its original position after setting the new code.
