Figure 2: Back View of the Sensor
This image displays the back of the Bresser Thermo/Hygro Outdoor Sensor. Key features include the hanging hole for wall mounting, the battery compartment cover, and the channel selection switch (often labeled CH or 1-8) which is typically located inside the battery compartment or near it.

Key Components:

  • Temperature/Humidity Sensor: Measures ambient temperature and humidity.
  • Transmission Indicator: A small LED that flashes when data is transmitted.
  • Battery Compartment: Holds 2x AA batteries.
  • Channel Selection Switch: Allows selection of one of 8 available channels for pairing with a weather station.
  • Wall Mount Hole: For easy installation on a wall or other vertical surface.

Setup

  1. Insert Batteries:
    • Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the sensor.
    • Insert 2x AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
    • Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  2. Select Channel:
    • Locate the channel selection switch (usually a small dip switch or button) inside or near the battery compartment.
    • Select a channel (e.g., Channel 1). If you plan to use multiple sensors, ensure each sensor is set to a different channel.
  3. Pair with Weather Station:
    • Place the sensor near your compatible Bresser weather station (e.g., Bresser Meteo THBM, Meteo Life).
    • Refer to your weather station's manual for specific instructions on how to initiate pairing or search for new outdoor sensors.
    • The sensor will automatically begin transmitting data once powered on. The weather station should detect and display the temperature and humidity readings for the selected channel.
  4. Mounting the Sensor:
    • Choose a suitable outdoor location, preferably in a shaded area to avoid direct sunlight affecting temperature readings.
    • Ensure the location is protected from direct rain and snow.
    • Mount the sensor vertically using a screw through the wall mount hole on the back.
    • The maximum transmission range is up to 50 meters in open air. Obstacles like walls and trees can reduce this range.

Operating

Once set up and paired, the Bresser Thermo/Hygro Outdoor Sensor operates automatically. It continuously measures temperature and humidity and transmits this data wirelessly to your main weather station at regular intervals.

  • Data Transmission: The sensor transmits data approximately every 60 seconds. The transmission indicator light on the front of the sensor will briefly flash during transmission.
  • Display on Weather Station: Your compatible weather station will display the received temperature and humidity data for the corresponding channel. If you have multiple sensors, you can typically cycle through the channels on your weather station to view data from each.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the sensor casing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: When the batteries are low, your weather station may indicate a low battery warning for the sensor. Replace both AA batteries simultaneously, ensuring correct polarity.
  • Sensor Placement: Periodically check the sensor's outdoor placement to ensure it remains protected from direct weather elements and is not obstructed, which could affect readings or signal transmission.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No readings on weather station.
  • Batteries are dead or inserted incorrectly.
  • Sensor is out of range.
  • Incorrect channel selected on sensor or weather station.
  • Interference from other electronic devices.
  • Replace batteries, check polarity.
  • Move sensor closer to the weather station.
  • Ensure sensor and weather station are set to the same channel.
  • Move sensor away from potential sources of interference (e.g., TVs, computers).
Inaccurate temperature/humidity readings.
  • Sensor exposed to direct sunlight or heat sources.
  • Sensor exposed to direct rain or moisture.
  • Relocate sensor to a shaded, well-ventilated area.
  • Ensure sensor is protected from direct weather elements.
Short transmission range.
  • Obstacles between sensor and weather station.
  • Low battery power.
  • Minimize obstacles (walls, large metal objects).
  • Replace batteries.
