Operating Instructions
General Operation
- Ensure the correct plates are installed and securely locked.
- Close the lid and plug the appliance into a standard 120V electrical outlet. The red indicator light will illuminate, signaling that the appliance is heating.
- Allow the appliance to preheat. The green indicator light will illuminate when the desired cooking temperature is reached, indicating the unit is ready for use.
- Carefully open the lid using the cool-touch handle.
- Place your food onto the bottom cooking plate. Do not overfill.
- Close the lid. The green indicator light may turn off and on during cooking as the thermostat maintains the temperature.
- Cook for the recommended time or until desired doneness is achieved. Cooking times will vary based on food type and personal preference.
- Once cooking is complete, carefully open the lid and remove food using a heat-resistant plastic or wooden utensil to avoid damaging the non-stick coating.
- Unplug the appliance from the outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning or storing.
Using Sandwich Plates
For best results, lightly butter or spray the outer sides of your bread with cooking oil. Place two slices of bread with your desired filling onto the bottom sandwich plates. Close the lid and cook until the sandwich is golden brown and sealed, typically 3-5 minutes.
Using Waffle Plates
Pour approximately 1/2 to 3/4 cup of waffle batter onto the center of each bottom waffle plate. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and steam stops escaping, typically 4-7 minutes. Adjust cooking time for desired crispness.
Using Grill Plates
Lightly brush the grill plates with cooking oil or spray. Place items such as burgers, steaks, chicken, or vegetables onto the bottom grill plate. Close the lid for contact grilling or leave open for an open-face grill. Cook until desired doneness, flipping items if necessary for even cooking when using an open-face grill.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your appliance.
- Always Unplug: Ensure the appliance is unplugged from the power outlet and completely cool before attempting any cleaning.
- Remove Plates: To remove the cooking plates, locate the plate release buttons (usually on the side or front of the unit) and press them while gently lifting the plates.
- Clean Plates: The non-stick plates can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Alternatively, the plates are dishwasher safe for convenience. Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or metal utensils on the non-stick surface.
- Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
- Storage: Once clean and dry, reinstall the plates or store them separately. The appliance can be stored upright to save space.
