Tow Tuff TMD-1000ATV ATV Trailer Dolly User Manual
Model: TMD-1000ATV
Introduction
The Tow Tuff TMD-1000ATV ATV Trailer Dolly is designed to assist in moving trailers and attachments with an ATV or UTV, reducing the tongue weight on the towing vehicle. This dolly is ideal for various applications, including moving fish houses, tow-behind attachments, and implements for food plots. It features a robust 1,000 lb capacity and an adjustable design for versatile use.
Safety Information
- Always read and understand all instructions before assembly and operation.
- Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 1,000 lbs.
- Ensure all connections are secure before towing.
- Operate at a safe speed, especially on uneven terrain.
- Keep hands and feet clear of moving parts.
- Wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves and eye protection, during assembly and use.
- Do not modify the dolly in any way. Use only manufacturer-approved replacement parts.

- 2-inch Ball Hitch
- Pin Hitch
- Hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, pins)
Setup and Assembly
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Lay them out on a clean, flat surface.
- Attach Wheel Assemblies: Securely attach the two wheel assemblies to the main frame using the provided bolts and nuts. Ensure wheels spin freely.
- Install Adjustable Hitch Tube: Insert the adjustable hitch tube into the main frame. Adjust to the desired length (20" to 24.25") and secure with the appropriate pin or bolt. This tube also adjusts forward and backward to optimize weight distribution.
- Mount Coupler/Ball Hitch: Attach the 2-inch coupler and/or the 2-inch ball hitch to the adjustable hitch tube. The dolly also includes a pin hitch option for various attachments.
- Final Check: Before use, double-check all bolts, nuts, and pins to ensure they are tightened and secured.
Operating Instructions
- Connect to ATV/UTV: Attach the dolly's hitch arm to your ATV or UTV's hitch receiver. Ensure a secure connection.
- Connect Trailer/Attachment: Connect your trailer or attachment to the dolly's 2-inch coupler, 2-inch ball, or pin hitch. Verify that the connection is fully engaged and locked.
- Adjust for Weight Distribution: Utilize the adjustable hitch tube to fine-tune the weight distribution. Adjusting it forward or backward can help balance the load and reduce stress on your ATV/UTV.
- Towing: Begin towing slowly. The 40-inch wide wheelbase provides stability, and the 34-inch long hitch allows for a shorter turning radius. Be mindful of the turning radius, especially with longer trailers.
- Maneuvering: The dolly is designed to ease the movement of trailers, particularly in tight spaces or when precise positioning is required.

Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect all components for wear, damage, or loose fasteners. Pay close attention to the wheels, axles, and hitch connections.
- Lubrication: Lubricate moving parts, such as wheel bearings and pivot points, as needed to ensure smooth operation and prevent corrosion.
- Tire Pressure: Maintain proper air pressure in the 4.00 x 8 pneumatic tires. Refer to the tire sidewall for recommended pressure.
- Cleaning: Clean the dolly after use, especially if exposed to dirt, mud, or corrosive materials. Store in a dry place to prevent rust.
- Storage: When not in use, store the dolly in a protected area to extend its lifespan.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Difficulty steering/turning | Improper weight distribution; Obstruction in steering path | Adjust the adjustable hitch tube to redistribute weight. Check for debris or obstacles. |
| Excessive sway during towing | Improper weight distribution; Loose connections | Ensure the trailer tongue weight is properly distributed. Verify all hitch connections are secure. |
| Tires losing air pressure | Puncture; Loose valve stem; Worn tire | Inspect tires for damage. Inflate to recommended pressure. Repair or replace as necessary. |
| Noisy operation | Lack of lubrication; Loose components | Lubricate all moving parts. Tighten any loose bolts or nuts. |
