3. Setup
3.1 Charging the Battery
Insert the flight battery into the aircraft. Connect the Micro USB Cable to the drone's Micro USB Port and then to a USB adapter (not provided) or a computer. The battery indicator will show charging status. Ensure the battery is fully charged before the first flight.
3.2 App Download and Connection
Search for 'Tello' in your mobile device's app store (iOS 9.0 or higher, Android 4.4.0 or higher). Download and install the official Tello app. Power on the Tello drone. On your mobile device, connect to the Tello Wi-Fi network. Once connected, open the Tello app to establish a connection with the drone.
3.3 Optional Remote Controller
While the Tello can be controlled directly via the Tello app, a Bluetooth remote controller (purchased separately) can be connected via the Tello app for enhanced control. Refer to the remote controller's manual for pairing instructions.
4. Operation
4.1 Taking Off and Landing
Within the Tello app, use the on-screen controls for one-tap take-off and landing. Ensure the drone is placed on a flat, stable surface before initiating take-off.
4.2 Flight Controls and Modes
The Tello drone is controlled exclusively via the mobile app. It utilizes an optical sensor for stable hovering and precise positioning, particularly in well-lit indoor environments. The drone offers various flight modes and speeds, allowing for different levels of agility. The maximum flight range is approximately 100 meters, and it is recommended to keep the drone within visual line of sight.

4.3 Stunts and EZ Shots
Perform impressive aerial maneuvers with ease. The Tello supports 8D flips, allowing you to execute various somersaults by swiping your finger on the screen. Utilize EZ Shots modes (Circle, 360, Up & Away) to automatically record short, professional-looking videos with smooth camera movements.
4.4 Camera Functionality
The integrated 720P camera captures clear photos (5 MP effective still resolution) and videos. Note that the camera is fixed and does not feature a gimbal for stabilization. Video output resolution is 1280x720 pixels. Captured media can be stored on a Micro SD card (not included).
5. Maintenance
5.1 Propeller Guards
The Tello comes with propeller guards for added protection, especially during indoor flights or for beginners. These guards can be easily snapped on and off. Removing them may slightly increase the drone's speed and agility, but also increases the risk of propeller damage.
5.2 Battery Care
To prolong battery life, avoid overcharging or completely draining the battery. Store batteries in a cool, dry place. If using multiple batteries, allow them to cool down before recharging.
6. Safety Guidelines
- Avoid Water: Do not fly the Tello drone over water bodies (e.g., swimming pools, lakes) as it is not waterproof and may crash.
- Wind Conditions: The Tello performs best in calm conditions. Avoid flying in strong winds, especially outdoors, as it can affect stability and control.
- Flight Environment: While suitable for indoor use, ensure sufficient space to avoid collisions. For outdoor flights, choose open areas free from obstacles, people, and animals.
- Line of Sight: Always maintain visual line of sight with your drone during flight.
- Respect Privacy: Be mindful of privacy laws and personal space when operating the drone, especially when using the camera.
