4. Setup Guide

4.1. Battery Charging

Before your first flight, ensure both drone batteries are fully charged. Each modular battery provides approximately 20 minutes of flight time and takes about 2 hours to charge. Batteries must be charged one at a time by inserting them into the drone and connecting the drone to a USB power source using the provided Micro USB cable.

4.2. Propeller Installation

The drone comes with propellers pre-installed. If replacement is needed, use the provided screwdriver to attach new propellers, ensuring they are correctly oriented (indicated by markings on the propellers and drone arms).

4.3. Remote Control Pairing

To pair the remote control with the drone, power on both devices. Move the left throttle stick on the remote control up and then down once. The drone's lights will indicate successful pairing.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Takeoff and Landing

After pairing, press the 'engine start' button on the remote. The drone will instantly start its propellers. To take off, gently push the throttle stick upwards. For automatic landing, press the designated landing button. You can also land manually by slowly pulling the throttle stick down.

5.2. Flight Modes and Controls

The HS110D offers several intelligent flight modes for enhanced control and experience:

  • Altitude Hold: The drone will automatically maintain its current altitude, allowing you to focus on directional control.
  • Headless Mode: When activated, the drone's forward direction will always be the same as the pilot's forward direction, simplifying control, especially when the drone is out of sight.
  • Voice Control: Use simple voice commands through the app to control basic flight functions (e.g., "Fly", "Land", "Forward", "Backward", "Left", "Right").
  • Gesture Control: Perform specific hand gestures in front of the camera to trigger photo or video recording. A "Scissor" gesture takes a photo, and a "Paper" gesture starts video recording.
  • Trajectory Flight: Draw a flight path on your smartphone screen, and the drone will automatically follow it.
  • Gravity Sensor Control: Tilt your smartphone to control the drone's movement, providing an intuitive flying experience.

5.3. Speed Modes

The drone features 4 adjustable speed modes. Speed 1 is the slowest, ideal for beginners or detailed video recording. Speeds 2 and 3 offer increased agility for general flying. Speed 4 is the fastest, suitable for experienced pilots or flying in windy conditions, though it requires more precise control.

6. Camera and FPV Functionality

The Holy Stone HS110D is equipped with a 1080P HD camera with a 120-degree Field of View (FOV) for capturing high-quality photos and videos. The camera is fixed and points forward. Live video feed (FPV) is transmitted to your smartphone via the Holy Stone app, allowing you to see what the drone sees in real-time. While the live feed is generally good quality, minor delays may occur. The camera also supports Micro SD card recording (card not included) for higher quality captures.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Battery Care

To prolong battery life, allow batteries to cool down before recharging. Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not overcharge or over-discharge the batteries.

7.2. General Cleaning

Regularly inspect and clean the drone, especially the propellers and motors, to remove any dust, dirt, or debris that could affect performance. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Holy Stone HS110D, consider the following common solutions:

  • Drone not responding: Ensure the remote control and drone are fully charged and properly paired. Re-pair if necessary.
  • Propellers not spinning: After syncing, ensure you press the "engine start" button. If propellers are fouled (e.g., by tall grass), the drone may enter a "fault" condition (all four lights flashing red) and require re-syncing after clearing the obstruction.
  • Short flight time: Ensure batteries are fully charged. Battery performance can diminish over time; consider replacing older batteries.
  • Unstable flight: Perform a calibration of the drone's gyroscopes as per the quick start guide. Ensure there is no strong wind interference.
  • FPV connection issues: Ensure your smartphone's Wi-Fi is connected to the drone's network. Restart the app and the drone if connection is lost.
