Model: DDS238-4 10(100)
1. Introduction
The Baomain DDS238-4-R is a precise single-phase three-wire energy meter engineered for accurate power consumption measurement in 110V/220V split-phase electrical systems. Designed to meet Class 1.0 accuracy standards, this DIN rail-mounted meter is an ideal choice for residential and light commercial settings that require reliable energy monitoring.
This single-phase electronic meter features a step-type impulse register and incorporates the latest micro-electronic technology LCD Display. Advanced digital sampling and surface mount technology (SMT) are employed, ensuring accurate recording of total power energy consumption. It has a power indicator that shows when the meter is connected and operational. The impulse indicator, a red LED, clearly displays the impulse rate, providing an easy way to monitor energy usage trends. Compatible with 110/220V AC at 60 Hz, this meter offers a practical solution for a wide range of applications.
2. Important Safety Information
Please read all safety instructions carefully before installation and operation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- This DIN-rail Kilowatt Hour meter is designed for AC circuits only.
- It is recommended that the kilowatt meter be installed in the electric meter box.
- Professional installation is highly recommended.
- For optimal performance and safety, we recommend installation by a qualified electrician.
- Ensure power is disconnected before any installation or maintenance.

4.3 Installation Notes
- Designed for three-wire (L1, L2, N) systems only.
- The neutral line does not pass through the meter.
- Not suitable for two-wire (L-N) configurations.
- CT (Current Transformer) models may be available for higher current ranges.
- Standard Connection (Without CT): Recommended continuous load ≤10A, with short-term peaks ≤100A.
- High-Current Applications (Maximum Current 100A): External current transformers (CTs) must be used. The electrical meter measures high current indirectly via CTs.
5. Operating Instructions
Once properly installed and powered, the DDS238-4-R meter will begin measuring energy consumption automatically.
5.1 LCD Display
The meter features a 6+1-digit LCD display, showing energy consumption up to 999,999.9 kWh. The display continuously updates to reflect the total accumulated energy.
5.2 Indicators
- POWER Indicator: A steady light indicates that the meter is connected to power and operational.
- PULSE Indicator: A red LED flashes to indicate energy consumption. Each flash represents a specific amount of energy (800imp/kWh), providing a visual indication of the impulse rate.
6. Maintenance
The Baomain DDS238-4-R energy meter is designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation. No user-serviceable parts are inside. For cleaning, gently wipe the exterior with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your DDS238-4-R meter, consider the following:
- No Display/No Power Indicator: Check power connections to ensure they are secure and that voltage is present. Verify the meter is correctly wired according to the diagram.
- No Pulse Indicator Flashing: Ensure there is an active load connected and drawing current. Verify wiring is correct and secure. If the load is very small, the starting current (0.04Ib*10 = 40mA) might not be met.
- Inaccurate Readings: Double-check all wiring connections against the diagram. Ensure the meter is installed in a single-phase three-wire system as specified. If using CTs for high current applications, ensure they are correctly installed and rated.
- Physical Damage: If the meter appears physically damaged, do not attempt to operate it. Contact a qualified electrician or the manufacturer for assistance.
For persistent issues, it is recommended to consult a qualified electrician.
