1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Motorola E211 Digital Cordless Phone with Answering Machine. Please read these instructions carefully to ensure proper use and to get the most out of your new phone.

2. Safety Information

General Safety

  • Do not expose the phone to water or moisture.
  • Avoid placing the phone near heat sources or direct sunlight.
  • Use only the provided power adapter and telephone line cord.
  • Keep the phone out of reach of children.
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the phone yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

Battery Safety

  • Use only the specified rechargeable AAA batteries.
  • Do not dispose of batteries in a fire, as they may explode.
  • Do not short-circuit the batteries.
  • Remove batteries if the phone is not going to be used for an extended period.

4. Getting Started (Setup)

4.1 Base Unit Placement

Place the base unit on a flat, stable surface, away from other electrical appliances that may cause interference. Ensure it is near a power outlet and a telephone wall jack.

4.2 Handset Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the handset.
  2. Insert the two supplied AAA rechargeable batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.3 Charging the Handset

Place the handset on the base unit's charging cradle. The display will indicate that it is charging. For optimal battery performance, charge the handset for at least 16 hours before its first use.

4.4 Connecting the Base Unit

  1. Connect the small end of the power adapter to the 'POWER' jack on the base unit.
  2. Plug the other end of the power adapter into a wall power outlet.
  3. Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the 'LINE' jack on the base unit.
  4. Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into your telephone wall jack.

4.5 Initial Setup (Date, Time, Language)

After the handset is charged, you may need to set the date, time, and language. Follow the on-screen prompts or navigate through the handset menu:

  • Press the MENU/OK button.
  • Scroll to 'SETTINGS' or 'INITIAL SETUP' and press MENU/OK.
  • Select 'DATE & TIME' to adjust.
  • Select 'LANGUAGE' to choose your preferred display language. The phone primarily supports English.

5. Operating Your Phone

5.1 Making Calls

  1. Pick up the handset or press the CALL button.
  2. Dial the desired phone number.
  3. Press the CALL button again if needed, or wait for the call to connect.
  4. To end a call, press the END button or place the handset back on the base unit.

5.2 Receiving Calls

When the phone rings, press the CALL button or any key (except END) to answer the call.

5.3 Adjusting Volume

During a call, use the UP/DOWN navigation buttons on the handset to adjust the earpiece or speaker volume.

5.4 Speakerphone Function

To activate the hands-free speakerphone during a call, press the SPEAKER button. Press it again to switch back to the earpiece.

6. Advanced Features

6.1 Digital Answering Machine

The integrated digital answering machine can record up to 12 minutes of messages. You can listen to messages from the handset or the base unit.

  • Playback: Press the PLAY button on the base unit or navigate through the handset menu to 'ANSWER MACHINE' > 'PLAY MESSAGES'.
  • Recording Outgoing Message: Access 'ANSWER MACHINE' settings to record your personalized outgoing message.
  • Call Interception: You can listen to incoming messages as they are being recorded and pick up the call if desired.

6.2 Call Blocking

Block unwanted calls by adding up to 10 numbers to the call block list.

  1. During an incoming call from an unwanted number, press the BLOCK button (if available) or navigate to the call log.
  2. Select the number you wish to block.
  3. Choose 'BLOCK NUMBER' from the options.

6.3 Do Not Disturb Mode

Activate the one-touch 'Do Not Disturb' mode to silence incoming calls and notifications, providing peace and quiet when needed.

  • Press the dedicated DND button (if available) or access it via the menu.
  • Deactivate by pressing the button again or through the menu.

6.4 Phonebook

Store up to 50 names and numbers in the phonebook for quick dialing.

  1. Press the MENU/OK button.
  2. Scroll to 'PHONEBOOK' and press MENU/OK.
  3. Select 'ADD NEW ENTRY' to save a new contact.
  4. To dial from the phonebook, select the desired contact and press the CALL button.
