3. Setup
3.1 Physical Connection
Follow these steps to connect your SNOM D785 phone:
- Attach the Phone Stand: Securely attach the phone stand to the main unit. The stand allows for two different viewing angles.
- Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cable into the handset and the other end into the designated port on the phone's base unit.
- Connect the Ethernet Cable: Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the 'LAN' port on the back of the phone and the other end to your network switch or router. The SNOM D785 supports Gigabit LAN.
- Powering the Device: The phone can be powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) if your network switch supports it. Alternatively, an optional 5V DC power adapter (not included) can be used by connecting it to the 'DC 5V' port.

3.2 Initial Configuration
Upon successful connection, the phone will boot up. Network configuration (IP address, SIP account details) is typically managed via a web browser interface. Refer to your network administrator or service provider for specific configuration parameters.
4. Operating the Phone
4.1 Display and Navigation
The SNOM D785 features a high-resolution color display for clear visibility of call information, contacts, and settings. Navigation is performed using the central navigation cluster and context-sensitive soft keys located below the display.

4.2 Basic Call Functions
- Making a Call: Lift the handset or press the speakerphone button, then dial the number using the keypad and press the 'Dial' soft key or the green call button.
- Receiving a Call: Lift the handset or press the speakerphone button when the phone rings.
- Ending a Call: Replace the handset or press the 'End Call' soft key/button.
4.3 Configurable Function Keys
The phone is equipped with 6 (24) configurable self-labeling function keys. These keys can be programmed for various features such as speed dial, line appearances, busy lamp field (BLF), or other custom functions as configured by your system administrator.
4.4 USB and Bluetooth Support
- USB Port: The integrated USB port allows for connection of accessories such as USB headsets or Wi-Fi dongles (if supported by firmware).
