8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Trap not connecting to Wi-Fi
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi router is operating on the 2.4GHz band. The trap is not compatible with 5GHz networks.
  • Verify that the trap is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
  • Check that the Wi-Fi password entered in the app is correct.
  • Try resetting the trap and repeating the connection process.
  • Ensure the app is updated to the latest version.
Short battery life
  • Ensure you are using fresh, high-quality AA batteries.
  • Leaving a captured rodent in the trap for an extended period may drain batteries faster. Dispose of catches promptly.
  • Extreme temperatures can affect battery performance.
Trap not catching mice
  • Verify that the trap is baited with an attractive, high-protein bait (e.g., peanut butter).
  • Ensure the trap is placed in an area with confirmed mouse activity, with the entrance against a wall.
  • Check that the trap is powered on and the indicator light is functioning correctly.
  • Clean the trap thoroughly, as residual odors can deter new mice.
No app notifications
  • Check your phone's notification settings to ensure the Victor Smart-Kill app has permission to send alerts.
  • Verify that your trap is successfully connected to Wi-Fi and the app.
  • Ensure your mobile device has an active internet connection.
