1. Product Overview

The Tecnomídia Western KC-01 Digital Kitchen Scale is designed for precise measurement of ingredients in the kitchen. With a maximum capacity of 5000 grams (5 kg) and a graduation of 1 gram, it provides accurate readings for various cooking and baking needs. The scale features an easy-to-read 4-digit LCD display and includes essential functions like tare and unit conversion.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Do not immerse the scale in water or any other liquid.
  • Clean the scale with a damp cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Avoid placing the scale near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
  • Do not overload the scale beyond its maximum capacity of 5000g.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure the scale is placed on a flat, stable surface for accurate readings.

3. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the scale from its packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Battery Installation:

    Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale. Open the cover and insert two (2) AA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the battery compartment cover securely.

  3. Placement: Place the scale on a hard, flat, and stable surface. Uneven surfaces can affect accuracy.
  4. Initial Power On: Press the "on tare off" button to turn on the scale. The display will show "8888" briefly, then "0g" (or "0oz").

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Turning On/Off

  • To turn on the scale, press the "on tare off" button.
  • To turn off the scale, press and hold the "on tare off" button for a few seconds until the display turns off. The scale will also automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

4.2 Weighing Items

  1. Ensure the scale is on a flat, stable surface and displaying "0g" (or "0oz").
  2. Place the item(s) to be weighed directly onto the weighing platform. The weight will be displayed on the LCD screen.

4.3 Tare Function (Zeroing)

The tare function allows you to weigh multiple ingredients in the same container or to subtract the weight of a container.

  1. Place an empty container on the weighing platform. The display will show its weight.
  2. Press the "on tare off" button once. The display will reset to "0g" (or "0oz").
  3. Add the ingredient(s) to the container. The display will show only the net weight of the ingredient(s).
  4. Repeat the tare process for additional ingredients if needed.

4.4 Unit Conversion

The scale can display measurements in grams (g) or ounces (oz).

  • Press the "mode" button to switch between grams (g) and ounces (oz). The current unit will be indicated on the display.

5. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe the scale surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or immerse the scale in water.
  • Storage: Store the scale in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Replacement: When the battery indicator appears on the display (or if the scale does not turn on), replace both AA batteries with new ones. Ensure proper polarity.
  • Handling: Handle the scale with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this can damage the internal sensors.

6. Troubleshooting
