1. Introduction
The APC 3000VA Smart UPS with SmartConnect, model SMT3000RM2UC, is a rack-mount uninterruptible power supply designed to protect your critical electronic equipment from power outages, harmful power conditions, spikes, and surges. This unit provides reliable battery backup power and features Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to maintain stable power levels. With its integrated SmartConnect cloud monitoring, you can remotely manage and monitor your UPS from anywhere with an internet connection.

2. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing, operating, or maintaining the UPS. Failure to follow these instructions may result in equipment damage, personal injury, or death.
- This UPS contains internal batteries. Do not attempt to service the batteries yourself. Refer to qualified service personnel.
- Always disconnect the UPS from the utility power before performing any maintenance or service.
- Ensure proper grounding for the UPS and all connected equipment.
- Do not operate the UPS in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in areas with excessive humidity.

4. Setup and Installation
The SMT3000RM2UC is designed for rack-mount installation. Follow these steps for proper setup:
- Physical Installation: Install the UPS unit into a standard 19-inch equipment rack using the provided rack-mounting support rails. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
- Connect Power: Connect the UPS to a dedicated NEMA 5-30P power outlet. The unit features (6) NEMA 5-15R and (2) NEMA 5-20R output receptacles for connecting your equipment.
- Connect Network (SmartConnect): Connect the UPS to your network using the dedicated Ethernet port on the rear panel. This enables the SmartConnect cloud monitoring feature.

4.1 SmartConnect Setup
SmartConnect allows for remote monitoring and management of your UPS. Follow these steps to activate:
- Scan QR Code: Locate the QR code on the UPS unit or in the SmartConnect Installation Guide. Use your smartphone to scan this code.
- Create Account: You will be directed to the SmartConnect web portal. Create a new account if you don't have one.
- Register UPS: Follow the on-screen prompts to register your UPS using the Product ID and Product Key provided.
Once registered, your UPS will automatically connect to the SmartConnect cloud, allowing you to monitor its status from any internet-connected device.

5. Operation
5.1 LCD Interface
The UPS features an intuitive LCD interface on the front panel for real-time status updates and configuration. Use the navigation buttons (Esc, Up, Down, Enter) to browse menus and adjust settings.

5.2 Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)
The UPS is equipped with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), which automatically corrects minor power fluctuations (sags and surges) without switching to battery power. This extends battery life and ensures clean, stable power to your connected devices.

5.3 SmartConnect Cloud Monitoring
Through the SmartConnect web portal, you can:
- View UPS status and event logs.
- Receive automatic notifications for critical events.

5.4 PowerChute™ Serial Shutdown Software
The included PowerChute Business Edition software provides UPS management, graceful shutdown capabilities for connected equipment (desktops, servers, workstations), and energy management features. Install the software on your connected devices and use the provided USB cable to connect to the UPS.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Battery Management
The UPS features intelligent battery management for optimal performance and extended battery life. This includes temperature-compensated charging and periodic battery self-tests. SmartConnect will provide battery replacement recommendations and notifications.

6.2 Firmware Updates
Keep your UPS firmware updated to ensure optimal performance and access to the latest features. Firmware updates can be initiated remotely through the SmartConnect web portal.
