1. Setup and Initial Operation

1.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials. Ensure all components are present: the coffee machine, milk container, water tank, and power cable.

1.2 Water Tank and Filter Installation

1. Remove the water tank (1.8 L capacity) from the machine.
2. Rinse the tank with fresh water.
3. If using a Melitta water filter cartridge, insert it according to the filter instructions.
4. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX mark.
5. Reinsert the water tank securely into the machine. The machine features automatic water quantity recognition.

1.3 Filling Bean Containers

The machine has two sealed bean containers (2x135g capacity). Open the lids and fill each container with your preferred coffee beans. The machine automatically selects the bean type based on the chosen beverage.

1.4 Milk System Setup

Connect the removable milk system hose to the separate milk container. Ensure the system is properly assembled for milk-based beverages.

1.5 Initial Rinse

After plugging in the machine and turning it on, follow the on-screen prompts for the initial rinsing process. This cleans the internal circuits before first use.

1.6 Melitta Connect App Pairing

Download the Melitta Connect App on your smartphone. Follow the app's instructions to pair it with your coffee machine via Bluetooth for convenient control of various functions.

2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Preparing Coffee Specialties

The machine can prepare 21 coffee specialties, including Espresso, Café Crème, Cappuccino, and Latte Macchiato, following original Italian recipes. Use the TFT color screen to select your desired beverage.

1. Place a cup or two cups under the height-adjustable all-in-one spout (up to 140 cm).
2. Select your desired beverage from the menu on the TFT display.
3. Press the start button. The machine will automatically grind the beans using its silent conical steel grinder and prepare the drink.
4. For an intense coffee flavor, activate the IntenseAroma function before brewing.

2.2 My-Coffee-Memory Function

The My-Coffee-Memory function allows you to save preferences for up to 8 users across 21 coffee specialties. Customize strength, temperature, and volume, then save your settings for quick access.

2.3 Customizing Beverages

Through the TFT color screen or the Melitta Connect App, you can create your own recipes by controlling hot milk, milk foam, or hot water at the touch of a button.

2.4 Preparing Two Cups

The machine is capable of preparing two cups of coffee simultaneously. Place two cups under the spout and select the two-cup option on the display.

3. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for preserving the machine's performance and the quality of your coffee.

3.1 Automatic Cleaning and Descaling

The machine features automatic cleaning and descaling programs. Follow the on-screen prompts when the machine indicates that these cycles are due. Use Melitta-approved cleaning and descaling agents.

3.2 Removable Brewing Unit

The brewing unit is removable for easy cleaning. Refer to the machine's internal instructions for removal and rinse it under running water. Allow it to air dry before reinserting.

3.3 Milk System Cleaning

The removable milk container is dishwasher-safe. Regularly clean the milk system components to prevent blockages and ensure hygiene. The machine will prompt for milk system cleaning after milk-based beverages.

3.4 Water Filter Replacement

If using Melitta filter cartridges, replace them as indicated by the machine or after approximately two months of use, whichever comes first.

4. Troubleshooting

4.1 Machine is Slow

Automatic coffee machines require various steps (grinding, brewing, rinsing) which can take time. This is normal operation. Ensure regular descaling and cleaning to maintain optimal performance.

The machine performs automatic rinsing cycles upon startup and shutdown, and after preparing certain beverages, which consumes water. This is part of maintaining hygiene and coffee quality. Using a water filter cartridge is recommended to reduce limescale buildup.

4.3 Coffee Not Hot Enough

Check the temperature settings in the machine's menu. Pre-warm your cups using the passive cup warming surface on top of the machine.
