Operating Instructions
Your Yale Assure SL Deadbolt Lock offers multiple ways to secure and access your home.
Unlocking the Door:
- Using an Entry Code: Touch the keypad to activate it. Enter your 4-8 digit entry code, then press the checkmark (✓) button. The deadbolt will retract, allowing you to open the door.
Locking the Door:
- One-Touch Locking: Simply tap the touchscreen keypad with your palm or fingers. The deadbolt will extend, securing the door.
- Auto-Lock: If enabled, the lock will automatically engage the deadbolt after a preset time (e.g., 30 seconds) once the door is closed.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Yale Assure SL Deadbolt Lock.
- Battery Replacement: The lock operates on 4 AA batteries. Replace all four batteries simultaneously when the low battery indicator appears or when the lock's operation becomes sluggish. Use high-quality alkaline batteries for best performance.
- Cleaning: Clean the touchscreen keypad with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.
- Door Alignment: Periodically check that your door and frame are properly aligned. Misalignment can cause the deadbolt to bind, leading to premature wear or operational issues.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Yale Assure SL Deadbolt Lock, refer to the following common solutions:
- Keypad Not Responding: Ensure the batteries are not depleted. Replace them if necessary. If the keypad remains unresponsive, try removing and reinserting the batteries to reset the lock.
- Deadbolt Not Extending/Retracting: Check for any obstructions in the door frame or strike plate. Verify that the door is properly closed and aligned. Low batteries can also affect motor performance.
- Incorrect Code Entry: If the lock does not accept your code, ensure you are entering the correct 4-8 digit code followed by the checkmark button. If multiple attempts fail, the lock may temporarily disable the keypad for a short period as a security measure.
- No Power: If the batteries are completely dead, you can use a 9V battery as an emergency power source by touching it to the terminals below the keypad to temporarily power the lock and enter your code.
