Setup and Installation
The SharkBite Anderson Shut-Off Valve features a push-to-connect design, simplifying installation without the need for solder, clamps, unions, or glue. No sealant is required for these connections.
- Prepare the Pipe: Ensure the pipe end is clean, free of burrs, and cut squarely. Mark the insertion depth on the pipe.
- Connect the Valve: Push the pipe firmly into the valve until it reaches the marked insertion depth. The valve's internal mechanism will create a watertight seal.
- Connect to Fixture: Attach the MIP (Male Iron Pipe) threaded end to your fixture's supply line. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench for a final quarter to half turn. Do not overtighten.
- Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main water supply and check for any leaks at all connection points.

Operating Instructions
The shut-off valve is designed for simple operation:
- To Open (Water Flow ON): Turn the lever handle so it is parallel with the direction of the water flow.
- To Close (Water Flow OFF): Turn the lever handle so it is perpendicular to the direction of the water flow.
Always turn the handle completely to ensure the valve is fully open or closed.
Maintenance
The SharkBite Anderson Shut-Off Valve requires minimal maintenance:
- Periodically inspect the valve and connections for any signs of leaks or corrosion.
- Keep the valve clean and free from debris.
- If the valve becomes stiff, operate it a few times to loosen any mineral deposits. Do not use lubricants that are not approved for potable water systems.
Troubleshooting
- Leak at Push-to-Connect Joint:
- Ensure the pipe is cut squarely and free of burrs.
- Verify the pipe is inserted fully into the fitting to the correct depth.
- Check if the pipe is damaged or out of round.
- Leak at Threaded Connection:
- Ensure the connection is tightened appropriately (hand-tight plus 1/4 to 1/2 turn with a wrench).
- Check for damage to the threads or the sealing washer.
- Valve Not Shutting Off Completely:
- Ensure the lever handle is turned completely to the closed position (perpendicular to flow).
- Mineral deposits may be preventing full closure. Operating the valve several times may help.
