Setup and Installation

The Dometic Micro Heki is designed for roof cut-outs of 280 x 280 mm and is suitable for roof thicknesses ranging from 23 to 42 mm. Professional installation is recommended.

  • Roof Opening: Ensure your roof has a precisely cut opening of 280 x 280 mm.
  • Roof Thickness: Verify your roof thickness falls within the 23 to 42 mm range. An appropriate installation kit and clamping set are required and must be purchased separately.
  • Sealing: A suitable sealant (e.g., non-hardening butyl sealant) is necessary to ensure a watertight seal between the roof window and the vehicle roof. This sealant is not included.
  • Inner Frame: The inner frame, which houses the blackout blind and insect screen, should only be attached after the main roof window unit is fully installed and sealed. Attempting to remove the inner frame after it has been fully seated can be difficult.

Operating Instructions

The Micro Heki roof window is operated manually.

  • Opening and Closing: Use the lever system to open the roof dome. It can be opened in two steps, up to a maximum angle of 50 degrees. To close, reverse the lever action until the dome is securely shut.
  • Ventilation Position: A special lock allows the window to be held firmly in a partially open, ventilation position.
  • Blackout Blind: The pleated blackout roller blind can be adjusted separately to block out light.
  • Insect Screen: The insect screen can also be adjusted independently to allow fresh air in while keeping insects out.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Micro Heki roof window.

  • Cleaning: Clean the acrylic glazing and plastic components with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the acrylic. For the fabric of the blackout blind and insect screen, spot clean only.
  • Seals: Periodically inspect the rubber seals around the dome for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure they are clean and free of debris to maintain a watertight seal.
  • Moving Parts: Check the manual lever mechanism for smooth operation. Lubricate hinges or moving parts with a silicone-based lubricant if necessary.

Troubleshooting

  • Water Leaks: If water leaks occur, first check the integrity of the sealant around the roof opening. Ensure the dome is fully closed and the seals are clean and undamaged. Leaks often indicate improper installation or degraded sealant.
  • Difficulty Opening/Closing: If the lever mechanism is stiff, clean any debris from the hinges and apply a silicone lubricant. Do not force the mechanism.
  • Blackout Blind/Insect Screen Gaps: The design of the blackout blind and insect screen may allow minimal light or small insects to pass at the edges. This is typical for this product's design and not a defect.
  • Inner Frame Removal: The inner frame is designed for secure, one-time installation. If removal is attempted after full seating, it may be difficult and could potentially cause damage. Exercise caution if removal is necessary.
