1. Introduction

2. Setup

2.1. Battery Installation

The Kistock KT50 requires two CR2 batteries for operation, which are typically included. To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the rear of the device.
  2. Carefully open the cover using a small screwdriver or coin if necessary.
  3. Insert the two CR2 batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2.2. Software Installation

The Kistock KT50 utilizes dedicated software for configuration, data download, and analysis. This software is typically provided on a CD-ROM or available for download from the KIMO Instruments official website. Follow the on-screen instructions during installation.

2.3. Connecting to a Computer

3. Operating Instructions

3.1. Understanding the LCD Display

The KT50 features a 1-line LCD display that shows current temperature readings and status indicators. Common indicators include:

  • Current Temperature: Displays the real-time temperature measurement.
  • REC: Indicates that the device is actively recording data.
  • Alarm Icon: Appears when a configured alarm threshold has been exceeded.
  • Battery Icon: Shows the current battery level.

3.2. Starting and Stopping Data Logging

Data logging is typically initiated and stopped via the KIMO Instruments software. Refer to the software's user guide for detailed instructions on setting logging intervals, start/stop conditions, and alarm thresholds.

3.3. Configuring Alarms

The KT50 allows for two configurable set point alarms. These alarms are set using the accompanying software. You can define upper and lower temperature limits. When the measured temperature falls outside these limits, the alarm icon will activate on the display.

3.4. Data Download

To download recorded data:

  1. Ensure the KT50 is connected to your computer via USB.
  2. Launch the KIMO Instruments software.
  3. Follow the software's instructions to initiate data download. The KT50 supports fast data transfer, up to 1000 values per second.
  4. Once downloaded, data can be viewed, analyzed, and exported within the software.

4. Maintenance

4.1. Cleaning

To maintain the device's performance and appearance, wipe it clean with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the casing or display. Ensure the USB port cover is closed when not in use to maintain its IP65 rating.

4.2. Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Refer to section 2.1 for battery installation instructions. Always use new CR2 batteries for optimal performance.

4.3. Storage

When storing the datalogger for extended periods, it is recommended to remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1. Device Not Turning On

  • Check battery installation: Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
  • Replace batteries: If batteries are old or depleted, replace them with new CR2 batteries.

5.2. Data Not Logging

  • Verify logging status: Check the LCD display for the "REC" indicator. If not present, logging may not be active.
  • Check software settings: Ensure logging parameters (start time, interval) are correctly configured in the KIMO software.
  • Memory full: The device has 16,000 measurement points. If memory is full, download data and clear the device's memory via the software.

5.3. Connection Issues with PC

  • Check USB cable: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the datalogger and the computer. Try a different USB port.
  • Software running: Make sure the KIMO Instruments software is open and running.
  • Driver installation: Verify that the necessary USB drivers are correctly installed. Reinstall the software if needed.
