Install the GPS unit securely on the front glass, ensuring it has a clear view of the sky for optimal GPS signal reception. The unit does not have a specific orientation, but it should be placed where it can receive a signal.

Refer to the drive recorder's instruction manual for detailed instructions on how to use the GPS unit in conjunction with the recorder.

  • For detailed usage instructions, please consult the instruction manual of your main drive recorder unit.
  • Before attaching the GPS unit, ensure the double-sided tape application area is clean and free of oil or dirt for secure installation.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the GDO-14 GPS Unit is correctly installed and connected to your compatible CELLSTAR drive recorder (CSD-690FHR), it will automatically begin to function.

  • GPS Information Recording: The unit will acquire GPS satellite signals and embed location data (latitude, longitude) into your drive recorder's video recordings. This allows you to review your travel route in conjunction with the video footage.
  • Driving Speed Information: In addition to location, the GDO-14 will also record your driving speed, integrating this data into the video files. This provides a comprehensive record of your journey.
  • Time Synchronization: The GPS unit also helps in synchronizing the drive recorder's internal clock with accurate satellite time, ensuring precise timestamps on all recordings.

For specific settings related to GPS data display or playback on your drive recorder, please refer to the drive recorder's own instruction manual.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the exterior of the GPS unit. Do not use liquid cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the unit.
  • Connection Check: Periodically check that the GPS unit's plug is securely connected to the drive recorder's terminal.
  • Mounting Check: Ensure the double-sided tape is still firmly holding the GPS unit in place. If it becomes loose, re-secure it with new adhesive tape after cleaning the surface.
