4.1 Battery Installation
- Unscrew the two parts of the control module (the cylindrical part with the switch).
- Insert the included LR44 battery with the positive (+) side facing upwards, as indicated inside the compartment.
- Carefully screw the two parts back together, ensuring a secure fit.
4.2 Connecting to Devices
The BY-M1 microphone features a 3.5mm TRRS connector, compatible with most smartphones, tablets, DSLRs, camcorders, and PCs. Use the provided 1/4" adapter for devices with a 6.35mm input.
For Smartphones, Tablets, and PCs (with TRRS input):
- Ensure the ON/OFF switch on the control module is set to OFF/Smartphone. In this mode, the microphone operates passively and does not require battery power.
- Plug the 3.5mm TRRS connector directly into your device's headphone/microphone jack.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Microphone Placement
For optimal sound quality, clip the lavalier microphone to your clothing, approximately 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) below your chin. Ensure the microphone is not covered by clothing or jewelry, which could muffle the sound.

5.2 Recording
Once connected and the switch is in the correct position (ON for cameras/recorders, OFF/Smartphone for smartphones), open your recording application on your device and begin recording. Always perform a short test recording to ensure the microphone is functioning correctly and the audio levels are appropriate.

6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the microphone body and cable with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the microphone.
6.2 Foam Windscreen
The foam windscreen helps reduce plosive sounds and light wind noise. It can be removed for cleaning or replacement. Gently slide it off and on the microphone capsule.
