Tools Required

The following tools are typically required for installation:

Setup and Installation

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate the main water shut-off valve for your home or the specific bathroom and turn off the water supply.
  2. Remove Old Shower Arm (if applicable): If replacing an existing shower arm, unscrew it counter-clockwise from the wall fitting. Clean any old sealant or debris from the wall opening.
  3. Prepare New Shower Arm: Apply plumber's tape (PTFE tape) clockwise around the threaded end of the new Moen shower arm that will connect to the wall fitting. Apply 3-5 wraps of tape to ensure a watertight seal.
  4. Install Decorative Flange: Slide the decorative flange (if separate) onto the shower arm, ensuring it faces the wall.
  5. Thread into Wall: Carefully thread the shower arm into the wall fitting by hand, turning clockwise. Ensure it is straight and not cross-threaded.
  6. Tighten Shower Arm: Using an adjustable wrench, tighten the shower arm until it is secure and points downwards at the desired angle. Important: Place a soft cloth or rag over the shower arm when using a wrench to protect the matte black finish from scratches or damage. Do not overtighten.
  7. Position Flange: Slide the decorative flange flush against the wall to cover the opening.
  8. Attach Showerhead: Apply plumber's tape to the threads of the shower arm where the showerhead will attach. Thread your showerhead onto the shower arm and tighten by hand, then with a wrench (using a soft cloth) until secure. (Showerhead sold separately).
  9. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn the main water supply back on and check for leaks at all connections. Tighten gently if any leaks are observed.
