Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your BLACK+DECKER POWERSERIES PRO vacuum:

1. Upright Mode: For general floor cleaning, use the vacuum in its assembled upright configuration. The swivel steering enhances maneuverability around furniture.
2. Portable Canister Mode: To clean hard-to-reach areas, stairs, upholstery, or overhead surfaces, detach the portable canister by pressing the release button. The canister can be used with the extension wand and 4-foot hose for extended reach.

Maintenance

Emptying the Dust Cup

The dust compactor feature allows for extended cleaning time before emptying. To empty the dust cup:

1. Ensure the vacuum is turned off.
2. Press the dust cup release button to detach the dust cup from the main unit.
3. Position the dust cup over a trash bin.
4. Press the dust cup empty button to release the bottom flap and empty dirt and debris. The dust compactor helps to consolidate debris, reducing dust cloud upon emptying.
5. Close the bottom flap securely and reattach the dust cup to the vacuum.

Cleaning the Filter

The anti-allergen filter captures 99.99% of allergens and requires regular cleaning to maintain optimal performance. The FILTERSENSE indicator will alert you when cleaning is needed.

1. Remove the dust cup as described above.
2. Twist and pull out the filter assembly from the dust cup.
3. Tap the filter gently over a trash bin to remove loose dust. For a more thorough clean, rinse the filter under cool running water.
4. Allow the filter to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting it into the dust cup. Do not use the vacuum with a wet filter.
5. Reassemble the filter and dust cup, then reattach to the vacuum.

Cleaning the Brush Bar

The brush bar can be easily detached for cleaning hair and debris.

1. Turn off the vacuum and lay it flat.
2. Locate the brush bar release mechanism on the bottom of the floorhead.
3. Unlock and remove the brush bar.
4. Use scissors or a brush to remove any tangled hair or debris from the brush bar.
5. Reinsert the clean brush bar and lock it back into place.
