1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the BONAI LCD Battery Charger. This universal charger is designed to efficiently and safely charge various types of rechargeable batteries, including NiMH, NiCD C, D, AA, AAA, and 9V Lithium batteries. It features an intelligent LCD display, a discharge function to optimize battery life, and multiple protection mechanisms to ensure safe operation.

2. Key Features

• Super Rapid Charging: Charges NiMH NiCD C, D, AA, AAA batteries at 1A, significantly faster than standard chargers.
• Independent Charging Slots: Allows charging of 1 to 4 C, D, AA, or AAA batteries, or 1 to 2 9V lithium batteries simultaneously, without needing to pair them.
• Smart LCD Display: Shows charging/discharging status and progress for NiMH NiCD AA AAA C D batteries.
• Discharge Function: Refreshes batteries by fully discharging them before recharging, extending battery life.
• Clamshell Cover Design: Protects batteries and charger from dust and external interference, and enhances safety.
• Multiple Protection Technology: Includes over-temperature, over-charge, over-current, over-voltage, and short-circuit protection.

3. Setup

Before first use, unpack the charger and ensure all components are present. Connect the provided AC power cable to the charger's input port and then to a standard wall outlet (100-240V AC).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Charging Batteries (AA, AAA, C, D)

1. Open the clamshell cover of the charger.
2. Insert one or more rechargeable NiMH/NiCD AA, AAA, C, or D batteries into the corresponding slots, ensuring correct polarity (+ and - ends). Do not double stack batteries in one slot.
3. The LCD screen will display the charging status for each battery. Indicators include 'CHG' for charging, 'DISCHG' for discharging, battery level icons for charging progress, and 'Fully Charged' when complete.
4. Once fully charged, remove the batteries from the charger.

4.2. Charging 9V Lithium Batteries

1. Insert one or two rechargeable 9V Lithium batteries into the dedicated 9V slots, observing correct polarity.
2. LED indicators for 9V batteries will show red for charging and green for fully charged or no battery in the slot. Note: The LCD display does not show status for 9V batteries.
3. Once fully charged, remove the batteries.

4.3. Discharge Function

To use the discharge function for AA, AAA, C, or D batteries:

1. Insert the batteries into their respective slots.
2. Press the blue 'Discharge' button. The charger will begin to discharge the batteries. The LCD will show 'DISCHG'.
3. Upon completion of the discharge process, the charger will automatically switch to charging mode.

Note: The discharge function is not available for 9V batteries.

4.4. Supported Battery Types

This charger is compatible with 1.2V NiMH/NiCD AA, AAA, C, D rechargeable batteries and 9V Lithium rechargeable batteries.

IMPORTANT: This charger cannot charge 1.5V batteries, non-rechargeable batteries, or alkaline batteries. Attempting to charge incompatible batteries may cause damage to the charger or the batteries.

5. Maintenance

• Always unplug the charger from the power outlet before cleaning.
• Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the charger's exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
• Keep the battery slots clean and free of debris to ensure good contact.
• Store the charger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture when not in use.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. LCD Screen Shows 'ERROR'

The 'ERROR' icon on the LCD screen indicates a problem with the battery or charging process. This can occur due to several reasons:

• Bad Battery: The battery's internal resistance may have increased due to prolonged use.
• Poor Contact: There may be debris or poor connection between the battery poles and the charger's springs. Clean the contacts and reinsert the battery.
• Battery Short Circuit: The battery may have an internal short circuit.
• Non-Rechargeable Battery: A non-rechargeable battery has been inserted. Remove it immediately.
• Battery Polarity Reversed: The battery has been inserted with incorrect positive (+) and negative (-) orientation. Reinsert correctly.
• Input Voltage Too High: Ensure the charger is connected to a standard power outlet within the specified voltage range.

If none of the above reasons apply, the charger itself might be defective. Please contact customer support for assistance.

7. Safety Information

• It is normal for batteries to become warm during charging.
• Use the charger only within an ambient temperature range of 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F).
• Do not expose the charger to rain or moisture.
• Do not disassemble or modify the charger.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets. The clamshell cover provides an added layer of protection.
• The charger will automatically power off if the temperature of the battery or charger exceeds 60°C (140°F).
