2. Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

• Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.
• Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.
• This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

3. Setup

Unpacking and First Use

1. Carefully unpack your coffee maker and remove all packaging materials.
2. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
3. Wash the carafe, lid, reusable filter, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. The glass coffee pot and the filter receptacle must be washed in the upper rack of the dishwasher.
4. Before first use, run two full cycles with only water to clean the internal components.

Water Filter Installation

The coffee maker includes a charcoal water filter to remove impurities and odors from tap water, enhancing coffee flavor.

1. Soak the charcoal filter in cold tap water for 5 minutes.
2. Insert the filter into the filter holder.
3. Place the filter holder into the water reservoir.

Adding Water and Coffee

1. Open the water reservoir lid and fill with fresh, cold water to the desired level (2-10 cups). Ensure not to overfill.
2. For whole beans: Open the bean hopper lid and add whole coffee beans. The conical burr grinder has a 5.3 oz capacity.
3. For pre-ground coffee: Ensure the 'Grind Off' function is selected on the control panel. Place the reusable gold tone filter into the filter basket and add your desired amount of pre-ground coffee.

Customizing Your Brew

• Grind Settings: Use the grind setting dial (coarse to fine) to adjust the fineness of your coffee grounds.
• Brew Strength: Use the brew strength selector on the control panel to choose between mild, medium, or strong coffee.
• Cup Selection: Select the number of cups you wish to brew (2-10 cups) using the dedicated button.

Brewing Coffee

1. Ensure the carafe is correctly placed on the warming plate.
2. Press the 'Brew' or 'Grind & Brew' button to start the brewing process.
3. The coffee maker will automatically grind the beans (if selected) and begin brewing.
4. You can use the 'Pause & Serve' function to pour a cup before the brewing cycle is complete.

Auto-Start Function

To enjoy fresh coffee upon waking, use the programmable auto-start feature:

1. Set the current time using the 'HR' and 'MIN' buttons.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and taste.

1. Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
2. Wash the carafe, lid, reusable filter, and filter basket after each use with warm, soapy water. These parts are top-rack dishwasher safe.
3. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
4. Clean the burr grinder regularly by removing any residual coffee grounds.

Descaling

Mineral deposits from water can affect your coffee maker's performance. Descale regularly (every 2-3 months, or more often with hard water).

1. Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water.
2. Place an empty carafe on the warming plate.
3. Run a full brewing cycle without coffee.
4. After the cycle, let the mixture sit in the carafe for 15 minutes, then discard.
5. Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse thoroughly.
