Installation Guide

Follow these steps for proper installation of your water temperature gauge. Ensure the vehicle or vessel's power is disconnected before beginning installation.

  1. Prepare Mounting Hole: Before installation, create an opening with a diameter of 52-53mm (2 inches) in the panel. Ensure there is sufficient depth, approximately 70mm (2-3/4 inches), behind the panel for the gauge body and wiring.
  2. Insert Gauge: Carefully place the water temperature gauge into the prepared hole in the panel.
  3. Secure Gauge: Use the provided M4 nuts and C-type bracket to firmly secure the gauge to the panel. Tighten the nuts evenly to ensure a snug fit without over-tightening.

Wiring Connection

Connect the wiring harness to the gauge and the vehicle/vessel's electrical system according to the diagram and descriptions below. Incorrect wiring can damage the gauge or electrical system.

  • Red Wire: Connect to +9-32VDC power supply.
  • Orange Wire: Connect to the positive (+) terminal for the red backlight.
  • Blue Wire: Connect to Ground (-).
  • Black Wire: Connect to the water temperature sensor signal input.

Operating Instructions

Once properly installed and wired, the gauge will display the water temperature when power is supplied. The red backlight will illuminate when its dedicated wire is connected to power, enhancing visibility in low-light conditions.

  • Ensure the gauge is connected to a compatible water temperature sensor (not included).
  • The gauge will automatically display the temperature within its indicating range of 40-120℃ (100-250℉).
  • The red backlight provides clear visibility during night operation or in dimly lit environments.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accurate performance of your ELING Water Temperature Gauge, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the gauge face with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the display or housing.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion. Inspect the gauge housing for any signs of damage or water ingress.
  • Environmental Protection: While the gauge is waterproof, prolonged exposure to extreme conditions outside its operating temperature range should be avoided.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your water temperature gauge, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Gauge Not Powering On:
    • Check the power (red wire) and ground (blue wire) connections for proper voltage and secure contact.
    • Verify that the power source is within the 9-32V DC operating range.
    • Inspect any inline fuses in the power circuit.
  • Incorrect Temperature Reading:
    • Ensure the black sensor signal wire is correctly connected to a compatible water temperature sensor.
    • Check the sensor itself for proper function and installation in the cooling system.
    • Verify the sensor's resistance range matches the gauge's input signal (287.4-22.4 ohms).
  • Backlight Not Working:
    • Check the orange backlight wire connection to its power source.
    • Ensure the power source for the backlight is active.
  • Fogging on Display:
    • While the gauge has anti-fogging features, persistent fogging may indicate a seal compromise. Ensure proper installation and check for any physical damage.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, contact customer support for further assistance.
