Figure 1: TES 1360A Humidity/Temperature Meter. This image shows the meter's main body, the sensor probe at the top, the LCD display, and various control switches and buttons for temperature, humidity, dew point, hold, power, and memory functions.
Key Components:
- Sensor Probe: Located at the top, responsible for detecting humidity and temperature.
- LCD Display: Three-line display showing humidity, temperature, and dew point readings.
- Function Switches:
- TEMP / %RH / DEW Switch: Selects the primary measurement displayed.
- °C / °F Switch: Toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
- HOLD / ON / OFF Switch: Controls power and data hold function.
- READ Button: Used to recall stored data from memory.
- MEMORY Button: Used to save current readings to memory.
- Battery Compartment: Located at the rear, houses the 9V battery.
4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
- Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert one 9V battery (006P 9V, IEC 6F22, or NEDA 1604 type) into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). A 9V battery is included with the meter.
- Replace the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Initial Power On
After installing the battery, slide the ON/OFF switch to the "ON" position. The LCD display will illuminate and show current readings.
5. Operation
5.1 Taking Measurements
- Turn on the meter by sliding the ON/OFF switch to "ON".
- Position the sensor probe in the environment where you wish to take measurements. Allow a few moments for the readings to stabilize.
- The LCD will display the current temperature, relative humidity, and dew point temperature simultaneously.
- To change the primary displayed measurement (e.g., larger font), use the TEMP / %RH / DEW switch.
- To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) temperature units, use the °C / °F switch.
5.2 Data Hold Function
To freeze the current readings on the display, slide the HOLD switch to the "HOLD" position. The readings will remain on the screen until the switch is moved back to "ON" or "OFF".
5.3 Data Memory Function
The meter can store up to 99 sets of measurement data.
- Saving Data: While taking a measurement, press the MEMORY button briefly to save the current readings. The display may briefly show a memory location number.
- Recalling Data: Press the READ button to cycle through the stored data sets. Each press will display the next stored record.
- Clearing Memory: Refer to the full instruction manual for details on clearing stored data, if this function is available.
5.4 Alarm Level Indication
The TES 1360A can compare measured values against two adjustable levels for each quantity (temperature, humidity, dew point). If a measured value exceeds or falls below these set levels, the corresponding value on the display will blink, and an audible alarm (if enabled) will sound. Consult the full manual for instructions on setting these alarm levels.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the meter's casing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the plastic and electronic components. Ensure no liquid enters the sensor area or other openings.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator appears on the display, or if the meter fails to power on, replace the 9V battery as described in Section 4.1. Always dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
6.3 Storage
If the meter will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage. Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Meter does not turn on. | Dead or incorrectly installed battery. | Check battery polarity. Replace with a new 9V battery. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Sensor dirty or damaged; environmental interference; meter not calibrated. | Clean the sensor carefully. Move away from strong electromagnetic fields. If issues persist, contact customer support for calibration or repair. |
| Display shows "LO" or "HI". | Measurement is outside the meter's specified range. | Ensure the environment's conditions are within the meter's operating range (see Specifications). |
| Memory function not working. | Memory full; incorrect button press. | Ensure you are pressing the correct button (MEMORY to save, READ to recall). If memory is full, consult the full manual for clearing instructions. |
