The packaging also indicates its 150W power and temperature range of 20°C to 32°C.

Setup and Installation

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the heater from its packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage. Do not use if the glass tube is cracked or broken.
  2. Placement: Choose a location in your aquarium that has good water circulation. This is crucial for the thermostat to accurately read and maintain the desired temperature throughout the tank.
  3. Mounting: Use the two provided sucker cups to fix the heater securely to the glass tank. The heater can be fixed horizontally, vertically, or in a slanting position, as long as it is fully submerged.
  4. Submersion: Ensure the entire heater unit, including the thermostat and heating element, is completely submerged in water before connecting it to power.
  5. Initial Temperature Setting: Before plugging in, set the desired temperature using the adjustment knob. Refer to the "Operating Instructions" section for guidance on setting the temperature.
  6. Power Connection: Once securely mounted and fully submerged, plug the heater into a suitable power outlet.

Operating Instructions

The SOBO Aquarium Heater features an automatic thermostat that controls the water temperature. Follow these steps for proper operation:

  1. Set Desired Temperature: Rotate the temperature adjustment knob located at the top of the heater to your desired temperature. The heater is adjustable between 20°C and 32°C. For most tropical fish, a temperature between 26°C and 28°C is ideal.
  2. Monitor Initial Heating: After plugging in, the heater's indicator light (usually red) will glow, indicating that the heating element is active. The warm water will circulate away from the heater before rising to the zone of the thermometer scale.
  3. Automatic Operation: The thermostat will automatically turn the heater off once the set temperature is reached. The indicator light will turn off. When the water temperature drops below the set point, the heater will automatically switch on again, and the light will glow.
  4. Temperature Verification: It is highly recommended to use a separate, accurate aquarium thermometer to verify the water temperature. Adjust the heater's setting slightly if necessary to achieve the precise desired temperature.
  5. Testing Functionality: To test if the heater is working, set the heater to its maximum temperature. The red light should glow, indicating it is heating.

Note: The choice of correct wattage is important. Consider the size of your aquarium and the difference between your room temperature and the desired aquarium temperature when selecting a heater wattage.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your SOBO Aquarium Heater.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Heater not turning on (no indicator light)
  • Not plugged in or power outage.
  • Temperature set too low (above current water temperature).
  • Heater malfunction.
  • Check power connection and outlet.
  • Increase the temperature setting above the current water temperature.
  • If still not working, the heater may be faulty and require replacement.
Water temperature is too low
  • Temperature set too low.
  • Insufficient water circulation around the heater.
  • Heater wattage is too low for tank size/room temperature difference.
  • Increase the temperature setting.
  • Ensure heater is placed in an area with good water flow (e.g., near a filter output).
  • Consider adding another heater or replacing with a higher wattage unit if necessary.
Water temperature is too high
  • Temperature set too high.
  • Heater thermostat malfunction.
  • Decrease the temperature setting.
  • If temperature continues to rise uncontrollably, unplug the heater immediately and replace it.
Heater light is always on
  • Water temperature has not reached the set point.
  • Heater thermostat malfunction.
  • Allow more time for the heater to reach the set temperature, especially in larger tanks or colder rooms. Verify with a separate thermometer.
  • If the temperature is stable at or above the set point and the light remains on, the thermostat may be faulty. Replace the heater.
