Installation
The COS-5MU30 range hood is designed for under cabinet mounting and offers both ducted and ductless installation options. For ducted installation, a 5-inch round duct is required, and HVAC tape is recommended for secure connections. For ductless (recirculating) operation, the optional Carbon Filter Kit # CFK4 must be purchased separately.
Ductless Conversion
To convert the range hood to ductless operation, follow these steps:
- Open the unit by removing the mesh filters.
- Locate the switch in the middle of the fan unit and remove the bolt with a Phillips tool.
- Change the switch to the ductless position, which allows exhaust to flow out of the front vent. Replace the bolt.
- Install the Carbon Filter Kit # CFK4 (sold separately) by placing the charcoal filter on top of the middle piece and tightening it into place.
- Replace the mesh filters. Your range hood is now set for ductless operation.

Cleaning the Mesh Filters
The multi-layer aluminum mesh filters are reusable and designed to trap grease and oil effectively. They should be cleaned regularly depending on cooking frequency.
- To remove, locate the small handle or latch on each filter and gently pull down.
- Wash the filters with warm, soapy water or place them in a dishwasher.
- Ensure filters are completely dry before re-installing.
- To re-install, align the filter with the slots and push up until it clicks into place.
