1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Torin T83505W BlackJack Hydraulic Low Profile Steel Racing Floor Jack. This jack is designed for general or specialty use, featuring a 3-ton (6,000 lb) capacity and a single piston quick lift pump for efficient lifting.

2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions may result in property damage, personal injury, or death.

• Always read and understand the entire manual before operating the jack.
• This jack is a lifting device only. Immediately after lifting, support the vehicle with appropriate jack stands. Do not work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.
• Do not exceed the rated capacity of 3 tons (6,000 lbs).
• Use only on a hard, level surface. Avoid using on asphalt or soft ground.
• Center the load on the saddle. Off-center loads can cause the jack to tip.
• Ensure the vehicle's parking brake is engaged and wheels are chocked before lifting.
• Do not use the jack for purposes other than lifting vehicles.
• Keep hands and feet clear of moving parts and the area under the vehicle.
• Lower the load slowly and carefully.
• Wear appropriate safety gear, including eye protection.
• Inspect the jack before each use for damage, leaks, or loose parts. Do not use if damaged.

4. Setup and Initial Preparation

Before first use, or after extended storage, prepare the jack as follows:

1. Assemble the Handle:

   Connect the two pieces of the handle together. Insert the assembled handle into the handle socket on the jack. Ensure it is fully seated.

2. Bleed the Hydraulic System (if necessary):

   Air can become trapped in the hydraulic system during shipping or storage, affecting performance. To bleed the system:

   • Turn the handle counter-clockwise to open the release valve.
   • Pump the handle rapidly 10-15 times without a load.
   • Turn the handle clockwise to close the release valve.
   • Test the jack by lifting it to its full height and then lowering it. Repeat if necessary.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Lifting a Vehicle

1. Prepare the Vehicle: Park the vehicle on a hard, level surface. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels that will remain on the ground.
2. Position the Jack: Locate the vehicle manufacturer's recommended lifting points. Position the jack so the saddle is directly under the lifting point. Ensure the jack is on a stable surface.
3. Raise the Vehicle:
   • Turn the handle clockwise until the release valve is fully closed.
   • Pump the handle up and down to raise the saddle. Continue pumping until the vehicle reaches the desired height.
   • Ensure the vehicle is stable on the jack saddle during lifting.

4. Secure with Jack Stands: Once the vehicle is lifted, immediately place appropriately rated jack stands under the vehicle's frame or designated support points. Lower the vehicle slowly onto the jack stands.
5. Remove the Jack: Once the vehicle is securely supported by jack stands, turn the handle counter-clockwise slightly to release the pressure and lower the jack completely. Remove the jack from under the vehicle.

5.2. Lowering a Vehicle

1. Reposition the Jack: If the jack was removed, place it back under the vehicle's lifting point, ensuring the saddle is centered.
2. Lift Slightly: Pump the jack handle a few times to lift the vehicle slightly off the jack stands.
3. Remove Jack Stands: Carefully remove the jack stands from under the vehicle.
4. Lower the Vehicle: Slowly turn the handle counter-clockwise to open the release valve. The vehicle will begin to lower. Control the lowering speed by adjusting how much you open the valve.
5. Remove the Jack: Once the vehicle is fully on the ground, remove the jack.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your hydraulic floor jack.

• Lubrication: Periodically lubricate all moving parts, including the pivot points, wheels, and handle mechanism, with light machine oil.
• Hydraulic Fluid: Check the hydraulic fluid level every three months. To check, lower the jack completely, remove the oil filler plug, and ensure the fluid is level with the bottom of the filler hole. Use only high-quality hydraulic jack oil. Do not use brake fluid or motor oil.
• Cleaning: Keep the jack clean and free of dirt, grease, and corrosive materials.
• Storage: Store the jack in a dry, protected area with the ram fully retracted to prevent corrosion and extend seal life.
• Inspection: Before each use, inspect the jack for any signs of damage, wear, or leaks. Pay close attention to welds, casters, and the hydraulic cylinder.
