Owner's Manual

This manual provides essential information for the safe operation, maintenance, and inspection of your Torin BLACK JACK 2.5 Ton Low Profile Service Jack.

Inspection and Oil Level

Inspection: Ensure the unit is sealed and the drain screw is in the center. If necessary, use force to secure the valve.

Check Oil Level:

  1. Turn release valve counterclockwise to allow ram to fully retract. It may be necessary to apply force to the saddle for lowering.
  2. Remove the oil filler plug.
  3. With the jack in the level position, remove the oil filler plug. Stand jack in vertical position with handle socket down. The oil should be level with the bottom of oil hole. If not, top off. Do not overfill. Always fill with new, clean hydraulic jack oil.
  4. Replace the oil filler plug and inspection plate.
  5. Check jack operation.
  6. Purge air from system as required.

Factory Service

Any hydraulic jack found damaged in any way, worn, or operating abnormally, shall be removed from service until repaired by an authorized customer service representative. Owners and/or Operators should be aware that repair of this product may require specialized equipment and knowledge. Only factory authorized parts, labels, and decals shall be used on this product. Call the customer service department. Annual inspection of the jack is recommended and shall be made by the manufacturer's or supplier's authorized repair facility to ensure that your jack is in minimum condition and has the correct decals and safety labels specified by the manufacturer.

Operations

The owner and/or operator is responsible for providing maintenance, maintaining all decals or warning labels, and keeping the jack in good working order. If the owner/operator is not fluent in English, the product warranty and service instructions shall be read and discussed with the operator in their native language by the purchaser/owner or their designee. The owner/operators shall be informed that maintenance information shall be emphasized and understood prior to usage. The jack shall be inspected per the instruction manual prior to use.

Raising the Vehicle:

  1. Make sure the jack and vehicle are on a hard level surface.
  2. Always set the vehicle parking brake and block the wheels.
  3. Align the jack saddle to the vehicle frame lift points and position the jack beneath the prescribed lift point.
  4. Turn the release valve clockwise to the closed position. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
  5. Pump the handle until the vehicle is lifted to the desired height. DO NOT PUMP UP AND DOWN.
  6. Place jack stands beneath the vehicle at locations recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Never go under the vehicle without properly positioned jack stands. The jack is for lifting only.
  7. Turn release valve counter-clockwise to lower load onto jack stands.

Lowering the Vehicle:

  1. Turn release valve clockwise to the closed position.
  2. Pump the handle to lift vehicle off jack stands.
  3. Remove the jack stands. Do not get under or lift anyone other than the vehicle while lowering. Turn the jack release valve SLOWLY counter-clockwise to lower the vehicle onto the ground.

Inspection

The product shall be maintained in accordance with the product instructions. No alterations shall be made to this product. Before use, a visual inspection shall be made for abnormal conditions such as cracked welds, damage, bent, worn, or missing parts.

Inspections shall be performed in accordance with this manual.

The product shall be inspected immediately if it is detected to have been subjected to abnormal risk or shock. Owners and/or Operators should be aware that misuse of this product may require specialized equipment and knowledge. (See item #4 in maintenance)

Maintenance

Monthly Maintenance is recommended. Lubrication is critical to jacks as they support heavy loads. Any restriction due to dirt, rust, etc., cause either slow movement or extreme rapidly rapid lifting, damaging the internal components. The following steps are designed to keep the jack maintained and operational.

  1. Keep the jack clean and free of dirt, rust, and debris. Lubricate the jack with light oil.
  2. Visually inspect for cracked welds, bent, loose, missing parts or hydraulic oil leaks.
  3. The product should be inspected immediately if it is suspected to have been subjected to abnormal load or shock.
  4. Only authorized service representatives should provide hydraulic oil for servicing any jack or component. It is unlawful to remove or alter any safety warning labels from this product.
  5. Ensure all parts are properly assembled and in good working order.
  6. Check and maintain the ram oil level.
  7. Always use the correct grade of hydraulic oil. Never use brake fluid or common motor oil. Always wipe the saddle and ram clean.
  8. Always store your jack in the fully lowered position. This will help protect critical areas from corrosion. Do not use brake fluid or common motor oil, as they can damage the seals. Always purchase and use products labeled Hydraulic Jack Oil.

The operator is responsible for providing maintenance and all decals and safety labels contained on this product. If the owner and/or operator does not understand the safety instructions in English and/or Spanish, the safety information must be provided in the owner's native language by the seller of this product. It must be reviewed before use. It is the operator's responsibility to read and understand all safety measures, operation, and maintenance before using this product.

To Lift the Vehicle:

  1. Ensure the jack and vehicle are on a flat surface.
  2. Always apply the emergency brake and block the wheels.
  3. Turn the valve clockwise to close it.
  4. Pump the handle until the jack lifts to the desired height. Do not pump up and down.
  5. Place safety jack stands under the vehicle at the support points recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. The jack is not designed to hold the vehicle's weight for long periods of time.
  6. Turn the valve slowly counter-clockwise to lower the vehicle onto the safety stands.

Inspección

The product must be maintained according to the instructions. No alterations or modifications should be made to this product. If the product shows any defect or there are irregularities such as cracked welds, loose or damaged parts, or hydraulic fluid leaks and/or missing parts, it must be removed from service and repaired by an authorized service center. Immediately inspect if you believe this product has been used improperly or has been dropped and worn. Owners and/or operators must be aware that this product requires specialized knowledge and instructions. (See item #4 in maintenance)
