Setup

1. SD Card Preparation

Before initial use, the microSD card must be formatted within the camera. A Samsung Evo 32GB card is recommended (not included). For 64GB cards, ensure it is formatted to FAT32. Avoid using Sandisk and Transcend cards.

  1. Insert the microSD card into the camera.
  2. If the camera displays "please insert TF card" or "sd card error," press the recording button (OK button).
  3. Press the 'M' button to access the menu.
  4. Navigate to 'system setup' and select 'format'.
  5. Confirm to format the card.

2. Installation

Mount the dash cam securely on your vehicle's windshield using the provided suction cup mount. Position it to ensure a clear view of the road ahead and the vehicle's interior. If windshield mounts are restricted in your area, consider an adhesive mounting disk for dashboard placement (sold separately).

3. Power Connection

Connect the dash cam to your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket using the provided car charger. The camera requires continuous power to operate. The internal 250mAh battery is primarily for saving settings and short-term power backup.

2. Wide Angle Lenses and Adjustability

The front camera features a 170° wide-angle lens, and the interior camera has a 140° wide-angle lens. The rear camera can be adjusted 80° vertically to achieve the optimal viewing angle.

3. Night Vision and HDR

Equipped with HDR technology, an F/2.0 aperture, and a 6-glass lens, the camera balances exposure to provide clear video with enhanced detail even in low-light conditions.

4. Parking Modes

The N2 offers two parking modes, which require a constant power supply (e.g., from an external battery pack or hardwire kit, ASIN: B07G9WTWB9) when the vehicle is off:

6. Audio Recording

The dash cam includes a built-in microphone and speaker for recording audio within the vehicle cabin.

7. Optional GPS Functionality

An optional GPS mount (ASIN: B07CYW6JXW, sold separately) can be purchased to enable GPS functionality. This allows you to track driving routes, location, and speed (in KM/H or MP/H) when playing back videos using the Vantrue GPS Player software.

The LCD screen can be set to automatically turn off after recording begins, preventing distractions while driving.

Maintenance

1. SD Card Formatting

Regularly format your microSD card (at least once a month) to maintain optimal recording performance and prevent data corruption. Refer to the "SD Card Preparation" section for instructions.

2. General Care

The N2 dash cam is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -4℉ to 158℉ (-20℃ to 70℃). Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures outside this range for prolonged periods. Keep the lenses clean using a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear video quality.

Troubleshooting

1. "SD Card Error" or "Please Insert TF Card" Message

This usually indicates an issue with the microSD card. Ensure the card is properly inserted. If the message persists, format the card within the camera as described in the "SD Card Preparation" section. If the issue continues, try a different, recommended microSD card (e.g., Samsung Evo 32GB or 64GB formatted to FAT32).

2. Camera Overheating

While the N2 is designed for a wide temperature range, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight in extremely hot environments can cause it to heat up. Ensure proper ventilation around the camera. If overheating leads to malfunction, allow the device to cool down. If issues persist, contact customer support.

3. Poor Night Vision Quality

Ensure the camera lenses are clean. While the N2 features HDR for low-light conditions, extreme darkness may still limit visibility. The product description mentions "infrared light provides great sharp video quality and super night vision," but a customer review indicates the IR LEDs might be for decoration. For optimal night recording, ensure your vehicle's interior lights are off to avoid glare on the interior lens.

4. Camera Not Recording

Check if the microSD card is inserted and properly formatted. Verify that the camera is receiving continuous power. Ensure loop recording is enabled to prevent the card from becoming full and stopping recordings.
