Wiltec 12L Manual Fruit Press Instruction Manual

Model: 30353

Introduction

The Wiltec 12L Manual Fruit Press is designed for efficient and natural juice extraction from various fruits. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for safe assembly, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your fruit press.

This manual covers the Wiltec manual fruit press with a high-quality beech wood basket and a 12-liter capacity, ideal for producing fresh juice from apples, grapes, berries, and more.

Safety Instructions

  • Always read and understand all instructions before operating the fruit press.
  • Keep hands and loose clothing away from moving parts during operation.
  • Ensure the press is placed on a stable, level surface before use.
  • Do not overload the press beyond its 12-liter capacity.
  • Supervise children and pets when the press is in use.
  • Clean all components thoroughly before first use and after each use.
  • Do not use the press for purposes other than its intended use.

Package Contents

The Wiltec 12L Manual Fruit Press package typically includes:

  • Main press unit with beech wood basket and steel frame
  • Pressing spindle with handle
  • Base plate with juice collection tray and spout
  • Filter bag
  • Wooden spacers for height adjustment

Assembly

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging.
  2. Position the Base: Place the steel tripod base on a stable, level surface. Ensure the juice collection tray is oriented so the spout can drain into a container.
  3. Assemble the Basket: The beech wood basket is typically pre-assembled. Place it securely onto the base plate.
  4. Insert Filter Bag: Line the inside of the wooden basket with the provided filter bag.
  5. Position Pressing Mechanism: Place the pressing plate and spindle assembly on top of the filter bag, ensuring the spindle aligns with the central hole.
  6. Add Spacers (if needed): Depending on the amount of fruit pulp, you may place the wooden spacers on top of the pressing plate to adjust the initial height of the spindle.

Operating Instructions

1. Fruit Preparation

  • Wash fruits thoroughly.
  • For apples, pears, and other hard fruits, crush them into a pulp using a fruit crusher or similar method. This maximizes juice yield.
  • For grapes, gently break the skins to release juice.
  • Remove large seeds or pits from stone fruits before crushing.

2. Loading the Press

  • Place the filter bag inside the wooden basket.
  • Fill the filter bag with the prepared fruit pulp. Do not overfill; leave enough space for the pressing plate.
  • Fold the top edges of the filter bag over the pulp.

3. Pressing

  • Place the pressing plate on top of the fruit pulp inside the filter bag.
  • Insert the spindle through the center of the pressing plate and into the base.
  • Begin turning the handle of the spindle clockwise. Apply gradual, steady pressure.
  • Juice will begin to flow from the spout into your collection container.
  • Continue turning the handle, increasing pressure as needed, until juice flow significantly reduces.
  • If the spindle reaches its lowest point and more juice can be extracted, you may need to add wooden spacers under the spindle mechanism to increase leverage.

4. Juice Collection

  • Collect the fresh juice in a clean container placed under the spout.

Maintenance and Cleaning

  1. Disassembly: After pressing, turn the spindle counter-clockwise to release pressure. Remove the spindle, pressing plate, and filter bag with the compressed pulp.
  2. Empty Pulp: Dispose of the fruit pulp from the filter bag.
  3. Rinse Components: Rinse all parts (basket, base, spindle, pressing plate, filter bag) with warm water immediately after use to prevent fruit residues from drying and sticking.
  4. Thorough Cleaning: Use a mild detergent and a brush to clean all surfaces. Pay special attention to the wooden slats and the juice collection tray.
  5. Dry Thoroughly: Ensure all components are completely dry before storage to prevent mold or rust. The wooden parts should be air-dried.
  6. Storage: Store the fruit press in a clean, dry place.

Troubleshooting

  • Low Juice Yield:
    • Ensure fruits are properly crushed or prepared (e.g., apples pulped, grapes broken).
    • Apply sufficient and consistent pressure.
    • Check if the filter bag is correctly positioned and not impeding juice flow.
    • Consider adding wooden spacers to increase pressing force if the spindle reaches its limit prematurely.
  • Difficulty Turning Spindle:
    • Do not force the spindle. If it's too stiff, release some pressure, check for obstructions, and ensure the fruit pulp is evenly distributed.
    • Ensure the spindle threads are clean and free of debris.
  • Leaking from Basket Sides:
    • Verify the filter bag is properly installed and covers the fruit pulp adequately.
    • Ensure the basket is securely seated on the base.
