The Cecotec Force Titanium 520 is a powerful 3000W steam iron designed for effective wrinkle removal. It features a durable TitaniumSlide soleplate, a strong steam jet, Eco mode for energy saving, and integrated anti-calc, anti-drip, and self-cleaning systems for optimal performance and longevity.

2. Safety Instructions

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.

  • Ensure the voltage indicated on the iron matches your local mains voltage before connecting.
  • Do not immerse the iron, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
  • Always unplug the iron from the power outlet when filling or emptying the water tank, and when not in use.
  • Do not leave the iron unattended while it is connected to the mains supply.
  • Keep the iron and its cord out of reach of children and pets when it is switched on or cooling down.
  • Use the iron on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Do not operate the iron if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage, or if it is leaking. Contact authorized service personnel.
  • The soleplate of the iron can become extremely hot. Avoid direct contact with hot surfaces.
  • Do not use chemical descalers in the iron's water tank, as this may damage the appliance.

4. Setup and First Use

4.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the iron from its packaging. Remove any labels, stickers, or protective film from the soleplate or body of the iron. Keep packaging materials away from children.

4.2 Before First Use

It is normal for a slight odor or smoke to be emitted during the first few uses due to the burning off of manufacturing residues. This will disappear after a short time. To ensure optimal performance, iron an old piece of fabric for a few minutes to clean the soleplate.

4.3 Filling the Water Tank

Always unplug the iron before filling the water tank.

  1. Ensure the steam control is set to the 'Dry' position (no steam).
  2. Open the water filling inlet cover.
  3. Using a measuring cup, carefully pour clean tap water into the tank up to the 'MAX' fill line. Do not overfill.
  4. Close the water filling inlet cover securely.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Temperature Control

The temperature control dial allows you to select the appropriate heat setting for different fabric types. Always check the garment's care label before ironing. Start with lower temperatures for delicate fabrics and increase for heavier materials.

  • Low Temperature: Synthetics, Silk
  • Medium Temperature: Wool
  • High Temperature: Cotton, Linen

5.2 Steam Ironing

For steam ironing, ensure the water tank is filled. Set the temperature dial to the steam zone (usually indicated by a steam symbol or higher temperature settings). Once the indicator light goes out, indicating the iron has reached the desired temperature, you can activate steam.

  • Continuous Steam: Slide the steam control to the desired steam level.
  • Steam Shot (230 g/min): Press the steam shot button for an extra burst of steam to remove stubborn wrinkles. Wait a few seconds between bursts to allow the iron to reheat.

This image shows the iron in active use, demonstrating the steam function as it glides over fabric to smooth out wrinkles.

5.3 Dry Ironing

For dry ironing, ensure the water tank is empty or the steam control is set to the 'Dry' position. Select the desired temperature and wait for the indicator light to go out before ironing.

5.4 Vertical Steaming

The powerful steam shot can also be used for vertical steaming of hanging garments, curtains, or drapes. Hold the iron vertically a few centimeters away from the fabric and press the steam shot button. Do not allow the soleplate to touch the fabric.

5.5 Eco Mode

The Eco mode optimizes steam output and temperature to save energy while still providing effective ironing results. Activate this mode by setting the temperature dial to the 'Eco' position, if available, or by using a lower steam setting.

5.6 Anti-Drip Function

The anti-drip system prevents water from dripping onto your garments when ironing at low temperatures. If the iron is not hot enough to produce steam, the system automatically stops water flow to the soleplate.

5.7 Automatic Shut-off

For safety and energy saving, the iron is equipped with an automatic shut-off feature. If the iron is left motionless on its soleplate for approximately 30 seconds, or on its heel rest for approximately 8 minutes, it will automatically turn off. The indicator light will flash to signal this. To restart, simply move the iron.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your iron.

6.1 Cleaning the Soleplate

After each use, allow the iron to cool down completely. Wipe the TitaniumSlide soleplate with a damp cloth to remove any fabric residue or starch buildup. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metallic scouring pads, as these can damage the soleplate.

6.2 Self-Cleaning Function (Anti-Calc)

The integrated anti-calc system helps prevent limescale buildup. For optimal performance, use the self-cleaning function regularly, especially in areas with hard water.

  1. Fill the water tank to the 'MAX' level.
  2. Set the steam control to 'Dry' and the temperature dial to 'MAX'.
  3. Plug in the iron and wait for the indicator light to go out.
  4. Unplug the iron.
  5. Hold the iron horizontally over a sink. Press and hold the self-clean button (often labeled 'Self Clean' or 'Anti-Calc'). Hot water and steam will be expelled from the soleplate, carrying away scale and impurities.
  6. Gently shake the iron back and forth until the water tank is empty.
  7. Release the self-clean button.
  8. Heat the iron again to dry the soleplate.
  9. Unplug and allow to cool completely before storing.

6.3 Draining the Water Tank

After each steam ironing session, it is recommended to empty any remaining water from the tank to prevent limescale buildup and leakage. Unplug the iron, open the water filling inlet, and invert the iron over a sink to drain the water.

6.4 Storage

Once the iron has completely cooled down, store it upright on its heel rest in a dry, safe place. Do not wrap the power cord tightly around the iron; instead, loosely coil it.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your iron, refer to the following table for common problems and solutions.

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Iron does not heat up. Not plugged in; power outlet fault; automatic shut-off activated. Check plug and power outlet; move the iron to reactivate.
No steam or insufficient steam. Water tank empty; temperature too low; steam control set to 'Dry'; calc buildup. Fill water tank; set temperature to steam zone; adjust steam control; perform self-clean.
Water dripping from soleplate. Temperature too low for steam; water tank overfilled. Increase temperature; do not overfill water tank.
White flakes coming from soleplate. Limescale buildup. Perform self-clean function. Use distilled water in hard water areas.
Soleplate not gliding smoothly. Residue on soleplate. Clean the soleplate with a damp cloth after cooling.
