5. Installation

5.1. Thermostat Unit Installation

  1. Battery Insertion: Open the battery compartment on the back of the thermostat. Insert the 2 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  2. Placement: Position the thermostat in a central location within your home, away from direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources (e.g., radiators, TVs). Ensure it is at a height of approximately 1.5 meters from the floor for accurate temperature readings.
  3. Mounting (Optional): The thermostat can be wall-mounted using the provided screws and wall plugs, or placed on a flat surface.

5.2. Receiver Unit Installation

WARNING: Electrical installation must be performed by a qualified professional. Ensure mains power is OFF before proceeding.

  1. Mounting: Mount the receiver unit near your central heating boiler or wiring center. It is designed for wall mounting.
  2. Wiring: Connect the receiver to your boiler according to the wiring diagram provided in the full installation guide (not included in this manual, but typically with the product). The receiver requires a 230V power supply.
  3. Power On: Once wired correctly, restore mains power. The receiver should power on.
  4. Wireless Communication: The RT510RF/TX units are typically pre-paired at the factory. If pairing is required, refer to the "Initial Setup" section.

6. Setup

6.1. Initial Pairing (if required)

Your RT510RF/TX units are usually pre-paired. If they are not communicating, follow these steps:

  1. On the receiver, switch the AUTO/MANUAL slider to OFF.
  2. Press and hold the pairing button on the receiver (refer to receiver diagram in full manual for exact location) until the LED flashes.
  3. On the thermostat, enter pairing mode (usually by holding a specific button or sequence, consult the full manual).
  4. Once paired, the receiver LED will stop flashing and remain solid.

6.2. Setting Time and Date

  1. Press the +Hr button to enter time setting mode.
  2. Use the Up/Down Arrows to adjust the hour, then press +Hr to confirm and move to minutes.
  3. Repeat for minutes and day of the week.
  4. The thermostat will automatically exit setting mode after a few seconds of inactivity.

6.3. Programming the Schedule (5/2 Day)

The RT510RF/TX allows for 5/2 day programming, meaning one schedule for weekdays (Mon-Fri) and another for weekends (Sat-Sun). You can set up to 6 time periods (PROG 1-6) per day.

  1. Press the PROG button (or similar, consult full manual) to enter programming mode.
  2. Use the Up/Down Arrows to select the day group (e.g., Mon-Fri or Sat-Sun).
  3. Press +Hr to select the first program period (PROG 1).
  4. Adjust the start time and desired temperature for PROG 1 using the Up/Down Arrows and +Hr to confirm.
  5. Repeat for PROG 2 through PROG 6 for the current day group.
  6. Switch to the next day group and repeat the programming process.
  7. Exit programming mode by pressing the PROG button again or waiting for inactivity timeout.

Note on Temperature Setting: If you wish for the heating to be off during a specific program period, set the temperature to a very low value (e.g., 5°C) to activate frost protection, or ensure the system is off via other means. The thermostat operates by calling for heat when the room temperature drops below the set point.

6.4. Temperature Calibration

If the displayed temperature does not match an accurate external thermometer, you can calibrate the thermostat. Refer to the full manual for specific steps, as this often involves a combination of button presses to access a hidden menu.

7. Operating Modes

7.1. Auto Mode (Programmed Operation)

In Auto Mode, the thermostat follows the programmed schedule (5/2 day, 6 time periods). Ensure the receiver's AUTO/MANUAL switch is set to AUTO.

7.2. Manual Mode (Temporary Override)

Manual mode allows you to temporarily override the current program setting. This can be done via the thermostat or the receiver.

7.3. Boost Mode

The Boost mode provides a temporary period of heating at a higher temperature. This is useful for quickly warming a room.

7.4. Holiday Mode

Holiday mode allows you to set a constant, lower temperature for an extended period, saving energy while you are away. The system will resume normal programming on your return date.

8. Maintenance

8.1. Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the thermostat display, replace the 2 AA batteries promptly. Use high-quality alkaline batteries for optimal performance.

  1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the thermostat.
  2. Remove the old batteries.
  3. Insert new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment. The thermostat should power on and retain its settings.

8.2. Cleaning

Wipe the thermostat and receiver units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the units in water.
