Place the cabinet on a stable, level surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near heat sources. For optimal sound projection, consider placing the cabinet on the floor or on a sturdy stand.

  • Input: Connect your bass amplifier's speaker output to one of the INPUT jacks on the HD115. You can use either a Speakon connector or a 1/4-inch TS (tip-sleeve) cable. Select only one input at a time.
  • Extension: The EXTENSION jack allows you to connect an additional speaker cabinet in parallel. Use a Speakon or 1/4-inch TS cable to connect the HD115's EXTENSION jack to the input of another cabinet. Ensure the total impedance of all connected cabinets matches your amplifier's output impedance capabilities. The HD115 is an 8-ohm cabinet.
  • High Frequency Switch: The HD115 features a high-frequency driver with a three-position switch:
    • -6dB: Reduces the high-frequency output by 6 decibels for a warmer tone.
    • OFF: Disables the high-frequency driver for a more traditional bass cabinet sound.
    • ON: Engages the high-frequency driver at full output for maximum clarity and presence.
Adjust this switch to suit your tonal preference.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

Always connect the HD115 to your amplifier before powering on the amplifier. When powering down, turn off your amplifier first, then disconnect the cabinet if necessary.

2. Adjusting High Frequency

Experiment with the High Frequency switch (-6dB, OFF, ON) on the rear panel to find the desired treble response for your playing style and musical context. The 'ON' setting provides the brightest sound, while '-6dB' offers a subtle reduction, and 'OFF' removes the high-frequency component entirely.

3. Amplifier Compatibility

The Hartke HD115 is an 8-ohm cabinet with a power rating of 500 watts RMS. Ensure your bass amplifier is compatible with an 8-ohm load and does not exceed the 500-watt RMS power handling of the cabinet to prevent damage.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the cabinet with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish. Avoid spraying liquids directly onto the cabinet.

2. Storage

When not in use, store the HD115 in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and humidity. If transporting, use a protective cover or case to prevent cosmetic and structural damage.

3. General Care

Regularly check all connections for secure fit. Avoid dropping or subjecting the cabinet to strong impacts. Do not attempt to modify or repair the internal components; refer to qualified service personnel for any issues.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your HD115 cabinet, consult the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Sound:
    • Ensure all cables are securely connected between the amplifier and the cabinet.
    • Verify that the amplifier is powered on and functioning correctly.
    • Check the volume controls on your amplifier and instrument.
    • Test with different cables to rule out a faulty cable.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the input gain or master volume on your amplifier.
    • Ensure your amplifier's impedance setting matches the cabinet's 8-ohm impedance.
    • Check for damaged speaker cones (visible tears or dents).
  • Intermittent Sound:
    • Inspect all cables and connectors for loose connections or damage.
    • Ensure the High Frequency switch is not faulty or stuck between positions.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, contact Hartke customer support or an authorized service center.
