Setup and Installation

The portable air conditioner is designed for easy setup. It includes an installation kit for window mounting, ensuring efficient exhaust of hot air.

Unpacking and Placement:

• Carefully remove the unit from its packaging.
• Place the unit on a flat, stable surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for proper airflow.
• Allow the unit to stand upright for at least 6 hours (preferably 24 hours) before initial use if it was not transported upright.

Window Kit Installation:

The included window kit facilitates the exhaust of hot air from the unit to the outside. This is crucial for effective cooling.

1. Assemble the window bracket according to the instructions in the user manual. The bracket is adjustable to fit various window sizes (hung or slide windows).
2. Connect the air exhaust hose to the hose inlet and outlet adapters.
3. Attach one end of the exhaust hose to the unit's exhaust port and the other end to the window bracket.
4. Secure the window bracket in the open window, ensuring a tight seal to prevent air leakage. Foam seals are provided for this purpose.

Operating Instructions

The BPACT12HWT offers multiple operating modes for year-round comfort.

Control Panel and Display:

The unit features top-mounted controls with a digital display for easy operation. The display shows the current temperature and selected mode.

Operating Modes:

• Cool Mode: Provides 12,000 BTU (ASHRAE) cooling for rooms up to 550 sq. ft.
• Heat Mode: Offers 9,000 BTU heating for colder months.
• Dehumidify Mode: Removes excess moisture from the air, improving comfort.
• Fan Mode: Circulates air without cooling or heating. Features 3 fan speeds.

Remote Control:

A full-function remote control is included, allowing convenient operation from a distance. The remote features a "FOLLOW ME" function, which uses a sensor in the remote to provide precise temperature control based on its location.

Connect the unit to your home Wi-Fi network to control it using the BLACK+DECKER mobile app (available on iOS and Google Play stores). It also supports voice control via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for hands-free operation.

Filter Cleaning:

The unit is equipped with a washable air filter. It is recommended to clean the filter regularly (e.g., every two weeks or as needed) to maintain air quality and efficiency.

Condensation Drainage:

The unit has a self-evaporative system that burns off most of the collected water. However, in high humidity conditions, the internal water tank may fill up. The unit will indicate when drainage is required. A drain hose is included for continuous drainage or manual emptying.

To drain manually, place a shallow pan under the drain port and remove the drain plug. For continuous drainage, connect the included drain hose to the port and direct it to a suitable drain.

Troubleshooting

If your air conditioner is not working properly, consult the table below for common issues and possible remedies. If the problem persists, contact BLACK+DECKER customer service or an authorized service center. Do not attempt to troubleshoot internal components.
