4. Setup Instructions
Proper setup is crucial for optimal pump performance and longevity.
4.1. Placement:
- Place the pump on a firm, level surface near the water source.
- Ensure the pump is protected from direct weather exposure.
- The maximum suction depth for this pump is 26 feet. For best results, position the pump as close to the water source as possible.
4.2. Connecting Hoses:
- Intake Hose: Connect the intake hose (not included, but a check valve and 1" hose coupling are provided) to the pump's inlet port. Ensure a tight seal using the provided thread tape. The check valve should be installed at the end of the intake hose submerged in the water source to prevent backflow and maintain prime.
- Discharge Hose: Connect your garden hose or other discharge hose to the pump's outlet port. Use the provided garden hose adapters and hose clamps as needed to secure connections.
4.3. Priming the Pump:
Before first use or if the pump has run dry, it must be primed. Priming involves filling the pump casing and the intake hose with water to remove air, which is essential for the pump to create suction.
- Locate the priming port on the top of the pump casing.
- Unscrew the priming cap.
- Slowly pour clean water into the priming port until the pump casing and the intake hose are completely filled. Adding water to the head of the pump will help accelerate the flow rate of the inlet.
- Replace and tighten the priming cap securely.

5. Operation
Once the pump is properly set up and primed, you can begin operation.
5.1. Starting the Pump:
- Ensure all hose connections are secure and the intake hose is fully submerged in the clean water source.
- Plug the pump into a grounded 120V AC power outlet.
- Flip the waterproof on/off switch to the 'ON' position. The pump should start immediately.
- Allow a few moments for the pump to build pressure and establish flow.
5.2. During Operation:
- Monitor the water flow and pressure. The pump can spray output flow up to 350 GPH at 40 PSI.
- Avoid running the pump dry, as this can cause damage. The overheat protection will activate if the motor gets too hot.
- Ensure no impurities larger than 0.04" enter the pump to prevent jamming.
5.3. Shutting Down:
- When finished, flip the on/off switch to the 'OFF' position.
- Unplug the pump from the power outlet.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your pump.
6.1. After Each Use:
- Drain Water: Use the dedicated drain ports with rotary knob design to completely drain any remaining water from the pump. This prevents water stagnation and potential damage, especially in freezing temperatures.
- Clean Exterior: Wipe down the exterior of the pump with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris.
6.2. Storage:
- Store the pump in a dry, frost-free location when not in use.
- Ensure all water has been drained before storing to prevent freezing and damage to internal components.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your FLUENTPOWER pump, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start or hums but doesn't pump. | No power; pump not primed; air in system; clogged intake/outlet; motor overheated. | Check power connection; prime the pump thoroughly; check for kinks or blockages in hoses; allow pump to cool if overheated. |
| Low pressure or insufficient flow. | Partial prime; air leak in intake hose; clogged filter/intake; suction height too great; impurities in water. | Re-prime the pump; check all connections for leaks; clean intake filter; ensure suction depth is within 26ft; ensure water is clean and free of particles larger than 0.04". |
| Pump runs but no water is discharged. | Pump not primed; intake hose not submerged; air lock. | Ensure intake hose is fully submerged; re-prime the pump; check for air leaks in the intake line. |
| Pump stops unexpectedly. | Overheat protection activated; power interruption. | Allow pump to cool down; check power supply. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact FLUENTPOWER customer service for assistance.
