3. Operating Features

3.1 INDIGLO Night-Light

Your Timex Expedition Scout watch features the INDIGLO night-light. To activate the backlight, simply press and hold the crown. The entire dial will illuminate, allowing you to read the time in low-light conditions.

3.2 24-Hour Time Display

The watch dial displays time in both 12-hour and 24-hour (military) formats. The inner ring of numbers (13-24) corresponds to the afternoon and evening hours, providing a quick reference for military time users.

3.3 Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 50 meters (164 feet). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not for diving or snorkeling. Avoid pressing the crown while the watch is submerged in water.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by one Lithium Metal battery (included). When the watch stops running or the INDIGLO feature dims significantly, the battery may need replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance. If replacing yourself, use a watch repair kit to carefully open the case back and replace the battery with the correct type (refer to specifications).

4.2 Cleaning

To clean the watch case, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture. If the strap gets wet, allow it to air dry completely. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish or strap.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in to position 1. If it still does not run, the battery may need replacement.
  • INDIGLO Not Working: This typically indicates a low or depleted battery. Replace the battery.
  • Date Not Changing: Manually adjust the date using the crown as described in Section 2.1. Ensure the time is set correctly for AM/PM to avoid the date changing at noon.
  • Water Intrusion: If moisture appears inside the watch, immediately take it to a professional watch repair service to prevent further damage.
