  • Do not operate the unit with wet hands or in damp environments.
  • Keep the unit away from flammable materials.
  • Do not look directly at the UV lights when the unit is operating. UV radiation can be harmful to eyes and skin.
  • Ensure the glass is clean and free of debris before each use to ensure proper exposure.
  • Unplug the unit from the power source before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
  • Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the operating unit.

Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the UV Exposure Unit from its packaging. Inspect for any damage during transit.
  2. Placement: Place the unit on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface in a well-ventilated area. Ensure there is sufficient space around the unit for operation and heat dissipation.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the unit and then to a standard 110V electrical outlet. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before plugging in.
  4. Glass Installation/Check: The unit comes with a 0.3-inch thick tempered glass. Ensure it is securely in place. A suction cup is provided to assist with removing and placing the glass if needed for cleaning or maintenance.
  5. Sponge Placement: The included sponges are used to provide pressure during exposure. Place the appropriate size sponge inside the unit on top of the screen frame to ensure good contact between the film positive and the emulsion.

Operating Instructions

  1. Prepare Screen: Ensure your screen frame is properly coated with emulsion and dried according to the emulsion manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Place Film Positive: Lay your film positive (artwork) onto the tempered glass surface of the exposure unit. Ensure it is positioned correctly and free of dust or debris.
  3. Position Screen Frame: Carefully place the emulsion-coated side of your screen frame directly onto the film positive, ensuring good contact.
  4. Add Pressure (Optional but Recommended): Place one of the provided sponges on top of the screen frame. This helps ensure even contact between the film positive and the emulsion, which is crucial for sharp image transfer.
  5. Close and Secure Lid: Gently lower the lid of the exposure unit and secure it using the latches on the sides. This ensures light-tightness and applies pressure.
  6. Set Exposure Time: Use the integrated timer to set the desired exposure time. The timer has an automatic memory function, so once set, it will retain the time for subsequent uses until changed. Consult your emulsion manufacturer's guidelines for recommended exposure times.
  7. Start Exposure: Turn on the main power switch. The UV LED tubes will illuminate, and the exposure process will begin.
  8. Monitor Process: The unit will automatically shut off the UV lights once the set time has elapsed.
  9. Remove Screen: Once exposure is complete, turn off the main power switch, unlatch the lid, and carefully remove your exposed screen frame.
  10. Develop Screen: Proceed with developing your screen according to your emulsion manufacturer's instructions (e.g., washing out with water).

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Glass: Regularly clean the tempered glass surface with a soft, lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive glass cleaner. Ensure no residue is left behind, as this can affect exposure quality. Use the provided suction cup to carefully lift the glass if needed for thorough cleaning underneath.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth. The electrostatic spraying treatment makes it easy to clean and resistant to water.
  • LED Tube Replacement: The LED UV tubes have a long lifespan (approximately 10,000 hours). If a tube fails, contact customer support for replacement instructions. Always ensure the unit is unplugged before attempting any tube replacement.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the unit in a dry, dust-free environment.
