  • Charge with LiPo Charger Only: Always use a charger specifically designed for Lithium Polymer batteries. Using an incompatible charger can cause fire or explosion.
  • Inspect Before Use: Before charging and operating, carefully inspect the LiPo battery for any signs of damage, swelling, or punctures. Do not use damaged batteries.
  • Do Not Charge Unattended: Never leave a LiPo battery charging without supervision. Always be present to monitor the charging process.
  • Avoid Overcharging: Do not overcharge the LiPo battery. Overcharging can lead to overheating, swelling, and potential fire.
  • Charge on Heat-Resistant Surface: Always charge the LiPo battery on a non-flammable, heat-resistant surface, away from combustible materials.
  • Prevent Overheating: Do not allow LiPo cells to overheat at any time during charging, discharging, or storage.
  • Avoid Over-Discharging: Do not discharge the LiPo battery below its minimum safe voltage (typically 3.0V per cell). Over-discharging can permanently damage the battery.
  • Prevent Short Circuits: Do not short circuit the LiPo battery. This can cause immediate damage, fire, or explosion.
  • Storage: Store batteries in a cool, dry place, ideally at a storage voltage (around 3.8V per cell).

4. Setup and Charging

Proper charging is crucial for the performance and longevity of your LiPo battery. Always adhere to the safety precautions outlined in Section 2.

4.1 Initial Inspection

Before connecting the battery to a charger, visually inspect it for any physical damage, swelling, or exposed wires. If any damage is observed, do not proceed with charging or use.

4.2 Charging Procedure

  1. Select a LiPo Charger: Use only a dedicated LiPo battery charger that supports 2S (7.4V) Lithium Polymer batteries.
  2. Connect Balance Lead: Connect the white JST-XH balance plug of the battery to the corresponding 2S port on your LiPo charger. This ensures each cell is charged equally.
  3. Connect Main Lead: Connect the red JST main power plug of the battery to the appropriate output port on your charger.
  4. Set Charging Parameters: Set your charger to the LiPo charging mode for a 2S battery. The recommended charging current for this 450mAh battery is 0.5A (1C). For faster charging, a maximum of 1A (2C) can be used, but lower currents generally extend battery life.
  5. Begin Charging: Start the charging process. Monitor the battery and charger throughout the entire charging cycle. Do not leave the battery unattended.
  6. Charging Surface: Always place the battery on a fire-resistant surface during charging.

5. Operation

Once fully charged, your floureon LiPo battery is ready for use in compatible RC devices.

5.1 Connecting to Device

Connect the JST main power plug of the battery to the corresponding JST input on your RC vehicle or drone. Ensure the connection is secure.

5.2 During Use

  • Monitor Voltage: If your RC device has a low-voltage alarm or telemetry, set it to alert you when the battery voltage approaches the minimum safe discharge level (e.g., 3.3V-3.5V per cell, or 6.6V-7.0V for the 2S pack).
  • Avoid Over-Discharge: Stop using the battery immediately when you notice a significant drop in power or when the low-voltage alarm activates. Continuing to discharge below safe levels can permanently damage the battery.
  • Temperature: Avoid operating the battery in extremely hot conditions. If the battery becomes excessively hot during use, allow it to cool down before recharging or further use.

6. Maintenance and Storage

Proper maintenance and storage are essential for maximizing the lifespan and safety of your LiPo battery.

6.1 Post-Use Care

  • Cool Down: Allow the battery to cool down completely after use before recharging.
  • Inspect: After each use, inspect the battery for any signs of damage, swelling, or connector wear.

6.2 Storage

  • Storage Voltage: For long-term storage (more than a few days), charge or discharge the battery to its storage voltage, typically 3.8V per cell (7.6V for a 2S pack). Most LiPo chargers have a dedicated 'Storage' mode.
  • Location: Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials.
  • Safety Bag: Consider storing LiPo batteries in a fire-resistant LiPo safety bag or container.
  • Avoid Punctures: Ensure the battery is stored in a way that prevents accidental punctures or damage.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your LiPo battery.

  • Battery Not Charging:
    • Ensure the charger is correctly set for LiPo 2S.
    • Check all connections (main and balance leads) for proper seating.
    • Inspect the battery for visible damage. If damaged, discontinue use.
  • Reduced Run Time or Power:
    • The battery may be aging. LiPo batteries have a finite cycle life.
    • Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
    • Check for signs of over-discharge in previous uses.
  • Battery Swelling:
    • If the battery appears swollen or puffed, immediately discontinue use.
    • Swelling indicates internal damage and a potential safety hazard.
    • Dispose of swollen batteries safely according to local regulations for hazardous waste. Do not attempt to charge or use a swollen battery.
  • Battery Gets Hot During Charging/Discharging:
    • Some warmth is normal, but excessive heat indicates a problem.
    • During charging, ensure the charge rate is not too high.
    • During discharge, ensure the load is not exceeding the battery's capabilities (e.g., 20C discharge rate).
    • If excessively hot, stop immediately and allow to cool.
