Daily Cleaning

Descaling

Descaling is crucial to remove mineral deposits and maintain machine performance. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage. Nespresso recommends descaling at least once a year, or more frequently in hard water areas.

  1. Prepare: Ensure the machine is empty of capsules and the drip tray is clean.
  2. Descaling Solution: Fill the water tank with 0.5 liters of fresh water and add one sachet of Nespresso descaling solution.
  3. Enter Descaling Mode: Turn the machine off. Press and hold both the Espresso and Lungo buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The buttons will blink rapidly.
  4. Start Descaling: Place a container (at least 1 liter) under the coffee outlet. Press the Lungo button to start the descaling cycle. The machine will run the solution through intermittently.
  5. Rinse Cycle: Once the water tank is empty, rinse it thoroughly and refill with fresh water. Press the Lungo button again to perform a rinse cycle with clean water.
