1. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to correctly assemble your Tangkula 10FT Outdoor Patio Umbrella.

1.1 Unpacking and Component Identification

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts are present before beginning assembly. Refer to the diagram below for component identification.

1.2 Base Assembly

1. Connect the two main base bars to form a cross shape.
2. Secure the central pole support to the assembled cross base using the provided bolts and wrench.

Note: The cross base provides initial stability. For enhanced stability, especially in windy conditions, it is recommended to use additional umbrella weights (not included). Refer to compatible base weights such as B08519Z2FW.

1.3 Solar Panel Connection

1. Locate the solar panel on top of the umbrella canopy.
2. Carefully remove the protective plastic film from the solar panel.
3. Connect the solar panel's wire to the corresponding connector located within the umbrella pole. Ensure a secure connection.

1.4 Attaching the Umbrella Canopy

1. Carefully lift the folded umbrella canopy and insert its main pole into the base support.
2. Secure the umbrella pole to the base using the provided knob.

2. Operating Instructions

This section details how to operate your patio umbrella for optimal use.

2.1 Opening and Closing the Umbrella

The umbrella features a crank handle system for easy opening and closing.

1. To open: Rotate the crank handle clockwise until the canopy is fully extended.
2. To close: Rotate the crank handle counter-clockwise until the canopy is fully retracted.

2.2 Adjusting Tilt and Height

The umbrella offers flexible adjustment mechanisms for tilt and height to provide optimal shade.

• Tilt Adjustment: Loosen the tilt adjustment handle, position the canopy to your desired angle, and then tighten the handle to secure it.
• Height Adjustment: Loosen the height adjustment knob on the main pole, slide the umbrella to your preferred height, and then tighten the knob to secure it.

2.3 Solar LED Lights

The umbrella is equipped with 24 solar-powered LED lights for nighttime illumination. The solar panel charges during the day.

• To activate the lights: Locate the on/off switch on one of the umbrella ribs (typically near the main pole) and flip it to the "ON" position.
• To deactivate the lights: Flip the switch to the "OFF" position.

3. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your patio umbrella.

3.1 Cleaning the Canopy

• To clean the umbrella canopy, use a soft cloth with water and a mild detergent.
• Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or stiff brushes, as these can damage the fabric and its waterproof coating.
• Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the canopy to air dry completely before closing or storing.

3.2 Storage

• When not in use for extended periods, or during inclement weather (strong winds, heavy rain, snow), close the umbrella and secure it.
• For long-term storage, store the umbrella in a dry place to prevent damage from moisture, mold, or mildew.
• Consider using a protective cover (not included) to shield the umbrella from dust, dirt, and UV exposure when stored outdoors.

3.3 General Care

• Regularly inspect all bolts and connections to ensure they remain tight. Tighten as necessary.
• Ensure the solar panel is clean and free of debris to maintain charging efficiency.
• Do not hang heavy items from the umbrella ribs or pole.

4. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your patio umbrella.

4.1 Solar LED Lights Not Working

• Check the switch: Ensure the on/off switch for the lights is in the "ON" position.
• Solar panel exposure: Verify that the solar panel receives direct sunlight for several hours during the day to charge the battery. Obstructions or cloudy weather can reduce charging efficiency.
• Plastic film: Confirm that the protective plastic film has been removed from the solar panel.
• Connections: Check that the solar panel's wire is securely connected to the internal wiring.
• Battery life: If the umbrella is new, allow a full day of charging before first use. Over time, rechargeable batteries may degrade and require replacement.

4.2 Umbrella Instability

• Base weights: The cross base requires additional weights for proper stability. Ensure appropriate base weights (e.g., sandbags, concrete blocks, or specialized umbrella base weights) are placed on the cross base.
• Tighten connections: Verify that all bolts and knobs securing the umbrella pole to the base and the tilt mechanism are tightened.
• Wind conditions: Close the umbrella during strong winds to prevent damage or tipping.

4.3 Difficulty Opening/Closing

• Crank mechanism: Ensure the crank mechanism is free of obstructions. Apply a silicone-based lubricant if the mechanism feels stiff.
• Fabric obstruction: Check if the canopy fabric is snagged or caught in the ribs or mechanism.
