2. Setup and Preparation
Before use, ensure each paint bottle is thoroughly shaken to mix the pigments evenly. The high-pigment acrylic formula is water-based, designed for vibrant color retention and smooth application. These paints offer exceptional opacity and quick drying times.
The paints are formulated for airbrush application, providing smooth, clog-free flow and consistent atomization. Their finely ground pigments are suitable for crisp camouflage patterns with minimal overspray. While primarily airbrush-ready, they can also be applied with a brush.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Airbrush Application
For airbrushing, the paints are pre-thinned. However, depending on your airbrush model and desired effect, further thinning with Vallejo thinner or distilled water may be beneficial to improve spray behavior. Apply paint in multiple thin layers for best results. Avoid using alcohol (such as 100% Isopropyl) for thinning, as it can cause the paint to curdle and become unusable.
3.2 Brush Application
These acrylics can also be applied with a brush. The formula is designed to minimize brush strokes, delivering professional-grade results. For specific effects like washes or glazes, additional thinning with water or appropriate mediums may be required.
4. Maintenance
Cleanup is straightforward due to the water-based formula. Tools, including airbrushes and brushes, can be easily cleaned with water immediately after use. For airbrush cleaning, 100% Isopropyl alcohol can be used to remove paint residue from the equipment, but not for thinning the paint itself.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Paint Thickening
If paint thickens over time, especially if bottles have been open or partially used, it can be thinned with a few drops of distilled water or Vallejo Airbrush Thinner. Shake well after adding thinner.
5.2 Airbrush Clogging
Ensure paint is thoroughly mixed and adequately thinned. Clean your airbrush regularly, especially between color changes or after extended use, to prevent clogging.
