3. Setup and Installation
The Hotpoint PHBS67FLLIX is designed for under-cabinet mounting. Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. It can be configured for external extraction or internal recirculation.
3.1 Mounting Type:
This chimney hood is designed for under-cabinet installation. Ensure adequate clearance above the cooking surface as specified in the full installation guide (not included in this manual).
3.2 Ventilation Options:
- External Extraction: Air is drawn from the kitchen, filtered, and expelled outside through a ducting system. This method requires an external vent.
- Internal Recirculation: Air is drawn from the kitchen, filtered through both grease and charcoal filters, and then returned to the kitchen. This option is suitable when external venting is not possible. The charcoal filter is included for this mode.

4. Operating Instructions
The control panel on your Hotpoint chimney hood allows you to manage extraction speed and lighting.
4.1 Control Panel:
The control panel typically features touch-sensitive buttons or push buttons for various functions. While the exact layout may vary, common controls include:
- Power On/Off: Activates or deactivates the hood.
- Fan Speed Selection: Allows you to choose between 3 extraction speeds (low, medium, high) to suit your cooking needs.
- Boost Mode: Provides maximum extraction power for intense cooking fumes. This mode typically operates for a set period before returning to the previous speed setting.
- Light On/Off: Controls the integrated halogen lights, providing illumination over your cooking area.
4.2 Using the Hood:
- Before cooking, switch on the hood to allow air circulation to begin.
- Select the appropriate fan speed based on the intensity of cooking fumes and odors. Use Boost mode for heavy smoke or strong smells.
- Turn on the halogen lights for better visibility of your hob.
- After cooking, allow the hood to run for a few minutes to clear any remaining fumes before switching it off.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your chimney hood.
5.1 Cleaning the Grease Filters:
The mesh grease filters capture airborne grease particles. They should be cleaned regularly (approximately every 2-4 weeks, depending on usage) to maintain optimal performance and prevent fire hazards.
- Removal: Carefully unlatch and remove the mesh filters from the underside of the hood.
- Cleaning: The filters are washable. They can be washed by hand in hot soapy water or in a dishwasher on a low-temperature cycle. Ensure they are completely dry before re-installing.
- Re-installation: Insert the clean, dry filters back into their positions, ensuring they are securely latched.
5.2 Replacing the Charcoal Filter (Recirculation Mode Only):
If your hood is operating in recirculation mode, the charcoal filter absorbs odors. It cannot be washed and must be replaced every 3-6 months, or more frequently with heavy use.
- Access: Remove the grease filters to access the charcoal filter(s).
- Replacement: Follow the instructions provided with the replacement charcoal filter for correct installation.
5.3 Cleaning the Exterior:
Clean the stainless steel exterior with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads that could scratch the surface.
