Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your Midland XT30 Twin PMR446 Two-Way Radio. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device and retain it for future reference.

Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
- Slide the cover downwards and lift it off.
- Insert 3 AAA rechargeable batteries into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover and slide it upwards until it clicks into place.
2. Charging the Batteries
The XT30 radios are supplied with rechargeable batteries and a USB charging cable.
- Connect the micro USB end of the charging cable to the charging port on the side of the radio.
- Connect the standard USB end of the cable to a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter).
- The radio's display will indicate charging status.
- A full charge typically takes several hours. Disconnect the radio once charging is complete.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off
- To power on, press and hold the MENU/POWER button until the display illuminates.
- To power off, press and hold the MENU/POWER button until the display turns off.
2. Adjusting Volume
Use the UP and DOWN arrow buttons to adjust the listening volume.
3. Channel Selection
- Press the MENU button once. The channel number will flash.
- Use the UP and DOWN arrow buttons to select one of the 16 available channels (8+8 pre-programmed).
- Press the MENU button again or wait a few seconds to confirm your selection.
4. Transmitting and Receiving
- To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button located on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
- Release the PTT button to receive.
- Ensure you are on the same channel and CTCSS tone as the other party to communicate.
5. CTCSS Tones (Sub-channels)
The XT30 supports 38 CTCSS tones to filter out unwanted conversations on a channel.
- Press the MENU button twice. The CTCSS tone number will flash.
- Use the UP and DOWN arrow buttons to select a tone (0-38). Tone 0 means no CTCSS is active.
- Press the MENU button again or wait a few seconds to confirm.
6. Call Function
Press the CALL button to send an audible call alert to other radios on the same channel and CTCSS tone.
7. Scan Function
The scan function allows you to monitor all channels for activity.
- Press the MON/SCAN button once to activate the scan function. The radio will cycle through channels.
- When activity is detected, the scan will pause on that channel.
- Press the MON/SCAN button again to stop scanning.
8. Monitor Function
Press and hold the MON/SCAN button to temporarily disable the squelch and listen to all activity on the current channel, including weak signals.
Maintenance
- Keep the radio dry. If it gets wet, wipe it immediately.
- Clean the radio with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or cleaning solvents.
- Do not attempt to open or modify the radio. This will void the warranty and may cause damage.
- Store the radio in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
- Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for a long time to prevent leakage.
