Setup
1. Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the scale from its packaging. Inspect the scale for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. If any damage is observed, contact your supplier immediately.
2. Battery Installation
Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale. Insert the required batteries (typically AA or AAA, refer to the battery compartment label for exact type and quantity) ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the battery compartment cover securely.
3. Placement and Leveling
Place the scale on a firm, flat, and stable surface. The Seca 876 is equipped with four leveling bases designed for stability. Ensure all four bases are in full contact with the surface to guarantee accurate measurements. Avoid placing the scale on soft surfaces like carpets, which can affect accuracy.
4. Initial Power-On
The scale features a "Tip-on Automatic switch on" function. Simply tap the weighing surface lightly with your foot or place a small weight on it to activate the scale. The display will illuminate and show "0.0" or "0.00", indicating it is ready for use.
Operating Instructions
1. Basic Weighing
- Activate the scale by tapping the weighing surface or stepping on it briefly.
- Wait for the display to show "0.0" or "0.00".
- Step onto the center of the weighing platform. Stand still until your weight is displayed and stabilized.
- The scale will automatically hold the weight reading (auto hold function) for a few seconds before automatically switching off (automatic switch off function) to conserve battery power.
2. Mother/Child Function
This function allows for accurate weighing of an infant or small child while being held by an adult. This feature ascertains the tare of the adult's weight with just the touch of a button.
- First, weigh the adult alone. Step onto the scale and wait for the weight to stabilize and be displayed.
- Press the "Mother/Child" button (or equivalent, refer to scale's button labels). The scale will tare the adult's weight to zero.
- Step off the scale, then step back on while holding the child. The display will now show only the child's weight.
- Step off the scale when done. The scale will return to normal weighing mode or switch off automatically.
3. lbs / kg Switch Over
The Seca 876 allows you to switch between pounds (lbs) and kilograms (kg) units. Locate the unit switch button, usually on the underside or side of the scale, or a dedicated button on the display panel. Press this button to toggle between the desired units. The current unit will be indicated on the display.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
To clean the scale, use a soft, damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or immerse the scale in water. Ensure the scale is dry before storage or next use.
2. Battery Replacement
When the battery low indicator appears on the display, or if the scale fails to power on, it is time to replace the batteries. Refer to the "Battery Installation" section under Setup for instructions. Always use new batteries of the specified type and dispose of old batteries responsibly.
3. Storage
Store the scale in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid placing heavy objects on the scale when not in use to prevent damage to the sensors.
