4.1 Compatibility

Kevo Convert is compatible with standard deadbolts from various brands, including Weiser, Kwikset, Baldwin Prestige, Baldwin Reserve, Baldwin Estate, and Schlage. Ensure your existing deadbolt is a standard type before proceeding.

4.2 Installation Steps

  1. Prepare Your Door: Ensure your existing deadbolt is properly aligned and functions smoothly.
  2. Remove Existing Interior Hardware: Unscrew and remove the interior thumb-turn assembly of your current deadbolt. The exterior key cylinder should remain in place.
  3. Install New Latch and Strike Plate (if necessary): If your existing latch and strike plate are not compatible or are worn, replace them with the ones provided in the kit.
  4. Attach Mounting Plate: Secure the Kevo Convert mounting plate to the door using the provided screws, ensuring it is flush against the door surface.
  5. Connect Kevo Convert Assembly: Connect the Kevo Convert interior assembly to the mounting plate. Ensure the tailpiece from the exterior cylinder properly engages with the Kevo Convert mechanism.
  6. Insert Batteries: Install the four AA batteries into the battery compartment of the Kevo Convert interior assembly.
  7. Perform Door Handing Process: Follow the instructions in the Kevo app or the quick start guide to calibrate the lock to your door's handing (left-hand or right-hand). This step is crucial for proper operation.

5.2 Auto-Lock Feature

The Kevo Convert features an optional auto-lock function. When enabled, the lock will automatically engage 30 seconds after being unlocked, providing an added layer of security and peace of mind. This feature can be configured within the Kevo app settings.

5.3 Remote Access (Kevo Plus - Optional)

For remote locking and unlocking capabilities from anywhere, the Kevo Plus hub (sold separately) is required. This accessory connects your Kevo Convert to your home Wi-Fi network, allowing for control outside of Bluetooth range via the Kevo app.

5.4 Managing eKeys

The Kevo app allows you to send, revoke, and manage eKeys for family members, friends, or service providers. Each eKey can be assigned specific access schedules and permissions.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

The Kevo Convert operates on four AA batteries. When battery levels are low, the Kevo app will provide notifications, and the lock's LED indicator may flash. To replace batteries:

  1. Remove the battery cover from the interior assembly.
  2. Remove the old batteries and dispose of them responsibly.
  3. Insert four new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Replace the battery cover.

It is recommended to use high-quality alkaline batteries for optimal performance and longevity.
