The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller comes with a USB-C to USB-A charging cable. The charging indicator lights on the controller will illuminate during charging and turn off when fully charged.
Pairing with Nintendo Switch
There are two primary methods to pair your Pro Controller with the Nintendo Switch console:
- Wired Pairing: Connect the Pro Controller to the Nintendo Switch Dock using the included USB-C to USB-A charging cable. Ensure the Nintendo Switch console is docked. The controller will automatically pair with the console.
- Wireless Pairing: From the HOME Menu on your Nintendo Switch, select 'Controllers' > 'Change Grip/Order'. While on this screen, press and hold the SYNC Button on the top of the Pro Controller for at least one second. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the controller. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: While the controller uses an internal rechargeable battery, avoid completely draining the battery frequently. Charge it regularly to maintain battery health. If storing for an extended period, charge it at least once every six months.
- Handle with Care: Avoid dropping the controller or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this can damage internal components.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, try the following solutions:
- Controller Not Connecting: Ensure the controller is charged. Try re-pairing the controller using both wired and wireless methods described in the 'Setup' section. Make sure the Nintendo Switch console's system software is up to date.
- Buttons or Joysticks Unresponsive: Check for any physical obstructions. If the issue persists, try recalibrating the joysticks and motion controls through the Nintendo Switch system settings ('System Settings' > 'Controllers and Sensors').
- Charging Issues: Verify that the charging cable is securely connected to both the controller and the power source. Try a different USB port on the dock or a different compatible USB charging adapter.
