Product Features

Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the security and functionality of your deadbolt. If you are unsure about any step, it is recommended to consult a qualified locksmith or professional installer.

  1. Prepare the Door: Ensure the door is properly bored for a deadbolt, including the cross bore and edge bore. The backset (distance from the door edge to the center of the cross bore) should be 2 3/4 inches.
  2. Install the Latch Bolt: Insert the latch bolt into the edge bore of the door. Ensure the bevel of the latch bolt faces the door frame. Secure it with screws.
  3. Install the Exterior Cylinder: Place the exterior cylinder assembly through the cross bore from the outside of the door. Ensure the tailpiece aligns with the slot in the latch bolt.
  4. Install the Interior Thumbturn Assembly: Position the interior thumbturn assembly over the tailpiece and secure it to the exterior cylinder using the provided mounting screws.
  5. Test Operation: With the door open, test the deadbolt's operation using both the key from the exterior and the thumbturn from the interior. The bolt should extend and retract smoothly.
  6. Install Strike Plate: Mark and chisel out the door frame for the strike plate, ensuring the deadbolt extends fully into the frame. Secure the strike plate with screws.
