Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.
- Always inspect straps for wear, cuts, or damage before each use. Do not use damaged straps.
- Ensure the working load limit (WLL) of the straps is appropriate for the weight of the cargo being secured. Do not exceed the stated working load limit.
- Secure straps to strong, appropriate anchor points on your vehicle or trailer. Avoid sharp edges that could cut the webbing.
- Distribute tension evenly across all straps to prevent shifting of the load.
- Periodically check strap tension during transit, especially after the first few miles, and re-tighten if necessary.
- Keep hands and fingers clear of the ratchet mechanism during tensioning and releasing to prevent pinching.
Setup
Before securing your load, familiarize yourself with the components and their functions.

Figure 3: The patented end cap design protects the ratchet mechanism and facilitates the EZ-Release system.
- Unpack: Remove the ratchet straps and soft loops from the included drawstring bag.
- Inspect: Visually check all components for any signs of damage or wear.
- Prepare Ratchet: Open the ratchet handle fully to allow the strap to be threaded through the spindle.
- Attach Hooks: Securely attach the S-hooks to appropriate anchor points on your vehicle or trailer. The coated S-hooks prevent scratching.
- Use Soft Loops (Optional): For delicate surfaces or hard-to-reach anchor points, use the included 1" x 15" soft loops. Wrap a soft loop around the item or anchor point, then hook the ratchet strap's S-hook into the soft loop.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to effectively secure your cargo:

Figure 4: The complete set includes four 1" x 15' ratchet straps and four 1" x 15' soft loops.

Figure 5: Coated full-bend S-hooks with integrated safety clips ensure secure attachments without scratching surfaces.
- Thread the Strap: With the ratchet handle fully open, feed the loose end of the strap through the slot in the rotating spindle of the ratchet. Pull the strap through until most of the slack is removed, leaving only a small amount of slack for tensioning. Ensure the strap is not twisted.
- Tension the Strap: Begin ratcheting the handle back and forth. The spindle will rotate, winding the strap and tightening the load. Continue until the strap is taut and the load is securely held. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the cargo or the straps.
- Lock the Ratchet: Once the desired tension is achieved, close the ratchet handle fully until it locks into place. This secures the strap and prevents accidental release.
- Secure Excess Strap: Roll up any excess strap and secure it with the included Velcro ties or by tying it off to prevent it from flapping in the wind during transit.

Releasing the Strap
- Locate Release Lever: Find the release lever on the ratchet mechanism.
- Open Ratchet: Pull the release lever and open the ratchet handle fully, past the locked position, until it lies flat. This will disengage the locking mechanism and allow the strap to unwind.
- Remove Strap: Pull the strap out of the spindle. The EZ-Release system makes this process quick and easy.
- Unhook: Detach the S-hooks from the anchor points.

Maintenance
Proper maintenance will extend the life of your Rhino USA Ratchet Straps:
- Cleaning: Clean straps with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before storage. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store straps in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The included water-resistant drawstring bag is ideal for storage.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the webbing for fraying, cuts, or excessive wear. Check the hooks and ratchet mechanism for corrosion, bends, or other damage.

Troubleshooting
Common issues and their solutions:
- Strap not tightening: Ensure the strap is threaded correctly through the spindle and that there isn't too much slack before ratcheting.
- Ratchet mechanism stuck: Ensure the release lever is fully engaged when attempting to open or close the ratchet. Check for debris or damage in the mechanism.
- Strap twisting: Always ensure the strap is flat and untwisted before tensioning to prevent uneven pressure and potential damage.
- Hooks slipping: Verify that the S-hooks are fully seated and secured to appropriate, strong anchor points. The safety clips should be engaged.
