Setup

The Yale Cylindrical Lockset is designed for straightforward installation, typically taking less than five minutes to assemble. The package includes the necessary locking sets, handles, the tongue (latch bolt), and the strike plate for a complete setup.

Installation Steps:

1. Ensure the door is prepped with the correct bore holes for a standard cylindrical lockset.
2. Insert the latch bolt (tongue) into the door edge, securing it with screws.
3. Align the exterior and interior lever assemblies with the latch bolt, ensuring the spindle engages correctly.
4. Secure the assemblies with the provided through-bolts or screws.
5. Install the strike plate on the door frame, aligning it with the latch bolt.
6. Test the operation of the lockset to ensure smooth opening, closing, and locking.

Operating Instructions

Normal Operation:

To open the door, simply depress the lever handle. The latch bolt will retract, allowing the door to open. Release the handle to allow the latch bolt to extend and secure the door when closed.

Privacy Function:

The lockset features a privacy button on the interior side of the handle. To engage the privacy lock, press the button. This will prevent the exterior handle from operating the latch, securing the room. The interior handle will always operate the latch for emergency egress.

Emergency Unlocking:

In case of an emergency or if someone is locked inside, the privacy lock can be disengaged from the exterior. Locate the small slot on the exterior handle's spindle. Insert a coin or a flat-head tool into this slot and twist to unlock the mechanism, allowing the door to be opened.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Yale Cylindrical Lockset, regular maintenance is recommended:

• Cleaning: Wipe the lockset surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
